use the Patriot Act to bar Mexican nationals in the United States from wiring money to Mexican residents.
Yet another of the 100,001 reasons the Patriot Act should be repealed.
Kobach: Trump is smart. It was his idea that I put a wrong deadline date for hispanic voters guide in my state. He is a very smart White man.
So that’s the guy to blame for failing to anticipate two glaring problems–1) if those illegals are deported, there is no wired money to interfere with; and 2) how long do you think it would take for them to find a different way of sending money home?
Oh this is wonderful. Kobach did the same thing in the Fall of 2012–“touting” his status as Immigration Adviser to Romney. But this SOB is so toxic, Romney denied it, not wanting to touch him with a ten foot pole. But eventually he could deny it no longer and his campaign was hurt seriously by the association. What is the opposite of “bounce”? And he probably has or will advise Cruz as well because Republicans are addicted to Latino hatred and Kobach is their pusher/dealer.
Rendition this asshole to Juárez.
I think it is a “shit splat”.
Xenophobia and hatred can be a two-way street. These racists talking only to themselves have no idea that Mexico is listening up to their hate speech, including the Mexican president, Peña Nieto who has condemned it and made comparisons to Hitler and Mussolini. Mexico has a very big expatriate community and gets about 25 million American tourists every year.
This a hole is in responsible for the worst vote suppression laws in the country. just the worst bigot!
I am shocked that he is from Kansas!
Trump must have an 11’ pole!
Terrific, B.G. Although I don’t think journalists and pundits will be able to avail themselves of it. But I will. It certainly describes the effect well. Thanks!
Kris Kobach has been advising Donald Trump on immigration issues, …
Say for example you wanted to prevent Democrats from immigrating to government…
What do you expect from the A.G. of Kochsas.
Trump should double check his calendar…
Kobach has specifically helped with Trump’s proposal to force Mexico to pay for a wall along its border with the United States. When the Kansas official endorsed Trump in February, he laid out a way for Trump to use the Patriot Act to bar Mexican nationals in the United States from wiring money to Mexican residents.
…Kobach told the Capital-Journal that he helped write Trump’s plan
It took your expert help to make it even dumber than a Trump idea.
As I noted when the details of Trump’s plan came out:
–the memo has a typo in the citation of the Patriot Act regulations it proposes to change
–one of the two sections of the code cited deals with casinos, not banks or money transfer companies, and both sections are part of a chapter of code that was superseded by new regulations five years ago
–in order to create the restrictions the Trump plan proposes, the regulations would not only have to define a money-transfer transaction as an “account” (a stretch that the Trump memo specifically mentioned), but also would have to define money transfer businesses as banks. That would subject money transfer businesses to a host of other rules that would be impossible to comply with and impossible to enforce because, well, money transfer businesses are very much not banks. It would be a bit like defining a car wash as a restaurant and requiring it to comply with all the rules governing a restaurant.
Those are just the problems with the proposed code changes. The practical problems, which other commenters have mentioned, are just as bad.
Sloppy, imbecilic, and racist.
A Ko-botch?
Didn’t think it was possible…but I found someone I despise more than Trump
Kris Kobach has been advising Donald Trump on immigration issues
That would explain a lot – not everything, but a lot.
If the majority of the Republican electorate had a whiff of intelligence or critical thinking skills, this would be the end of Donald Trump’s candidacy. I almost thought this was an Onion headline. On the same day Kobach is exposed (again) for blatant voter suppression tactics, he is touted as Trump’s policy advisor. Wow, just wow . . . . . .
