Discussion: Koch Brothers Turn Down Steyer's Debate Invitation

Discussion for article #222397

ā€œWe are not experts on climate changeā€¦ā€ Nor are they interested in listening to anyone who is.

Color me surprised.

They can dish it out, but they sure canā€™t take it. Typical chickensh!t conservatives.

ā€œWe are not experts on climate change,ā€ Koch spokeswoman Melissa Cohlmia in told the Wichita Eagle in an e-mail on Friday afternoon. ā€œWe do believe there should be free and open debate on the climate issue and it should be based on sound science and intellectual honesty."

That is a true statement. They are admitting they arenā€™t capable of free and open ebate, much less intellectual honesty.

A majority of the scientific community has already agreed the climate change exists and humans are huge contributors but the two neanderthal money grubbers keep spending their money on ads denying it rather than putting their money to a good cause.

When they have to put their mouths where their money is, the Kochā€™s are incapable of defending their agenda face to face. Facts vs. delusion is funny that way.

The new comment system while nice, is incapable of rendering the hypocrisy and irony described by this story.

I disagree with the Koch-Bucker. He and his brother couldnā€™t have done more to harm this planet than a trained, professional subversive.

Iā€™m finding it hard to find anything nice about itā€¦(the new system)ā€¦Itā€™s kind of clumsy reallyā€¦

Gawd, these two maniacal plutocrats piss me off to no end. They interfere everywhere around the country in local, state and national politics, all the while hiding out from open debate of their motives. Their secret agenda to enrich themselves through the continuation of dirty energy self-interest is appalling. They have the nerve to say, leave it to the experts. Well the experts have spoken. The Koch Brosā€¦not so much, except through misdirection, obfuscation and double-talk from their well-funded shadowy groups and hired spokespeople that front for them.

I really like the notifications. I do miss the threaded thing, but iā€™ve gotten used to most of the rest of it. Things like ā€˜likeā€™ limits and not being able to make small edits to fix your typos are annoying but hopefully that will shake out.

ā€œWe do believe there should be free and open debate on the climate issue and it should be based on sound science and intellectual honesty."

Notwithstanding the hundreds of millions of dollars weā€™ve spent to keep people from realizing that that very thing has already happened, is still happening and has resulted in an overwhelming consensus among those with training and experience in the field that C02 from fossil fuel combustion is pushing us to a global catastrophe.

You can make small editsā€¦I do it all the time when I forget an ā€œsā€ or an apostrophe. Its right thereā€¦the little pencil symbol.

Intellectual honesty and the Koch Brothers in the same sentence? Well, they do not belong together.

Thanks SR, I do that all the time since I make plenty of mistakes, but the other day i simply needed to add a space and it gave me the message ā€œtoo similar to previous postā€ and wouldnā€™t let me.

I agree the Koch Brothersā€™ anti-climate science efforts are all about self-interest, money and power. Iā€™m sure they donā€™t believe the BS propagated by their front organizations (they are MIT graduates.) My pet theoryā€“with absolutely no evidentiary support, mind youā€“is that the Koch Brothers are buying up (through shell corporations) large tracks of land in Canada and other regions which will become the rare bits of habitable land when climate change fully kicks in.

Interesting. I like the threaded thing better myself, but Iā€™m getting more tolerant of this system as time goes on. It has weeded out the over-abundance of trolls we used to have and thatā€™s all for the good imo. Plus this system moves faster on my computer. The last system they had, left me with spinning wheels constantly waiting for a page to load.

Then both of you should shut the fork up

They already have a sizable interest in the Tar Sands in Alberta for the KeystoneXL Pipeline. I remember reading about it not too long ago. Here it is:

sick fucks.

The Koch Bros., however, will be vacationing with the Heat Miser and the Winter Warlockā€¦
