Discussion: Koch Brothers Group Leadership Calls Out Trump For 'Lack Of Leadership'

Hooks specifically called out Trump and his allies in Congress who have been supportive of Trump’s trade policy and uptick in federal spending.

Ah yes …. this is the real bugaboo for the Kochs. They don’t give a hoot about “divisiveness”.

The Koch boys are responsible for creating and funding the Tea Party extremists to pull the Republican party as far right as possible so they could make government work only for them and the rest of their oligarch buddies. The strategy worked, they own the Republican party now, but only because they have the threat of the idiot tea baggers to hold over the heads of the only slightly less stupid, but thoroughly corrupted other Republicans. And, with another oligarch’s help (goes by the name of Putin) they got Trump. The ultimate stupid, cruel and batshit crazy Republican. And now Trump, because he is beyond the control of anyone, is doing things that hurt the oligarchs a little so they will criticize him, a little .This is just a ploy to get your chosen and corrupted stupid boy Pence in place. He is much easier to manage. Did I say fuck off? Well here it is: Fuck off Charles and David - much too little, far too late. Your stupid tea baggers aren’t going to impeach Trump so you will have to live with him, just like the rest of us. But you have your multi-million dollar tax cut. Don’t forget that. And fuck off, greedy monsters.

Except Pence is a Koch man, so I would assume he’d tackle Trump before his teeny tiny fingers could hit send.

Could that burst into flames bit be when Pence, Brownback, and Laffer are standing shoulder to shoulder with Chuck Koch?

Can’t we just call in Ultraman and take 'em both down?

“…the group announced it would spend as much as $400 million this year on policy and the political campaigns of Republicans running to hold the Senate…”

$400 MILLION just on Senate races? Money DOES equal speech, right?

These brothers funded and promoted Tea Party republicans.

THEY created the monster who lives in our White House.

NOW they complain about the atmosphere THEY created?

Republican/Libertarian hypocrisy knows no boundaries.

Register people to vote. There is a Federal Voter Registration form you can download and use in all 50 states and US Territories- https://vote.gov/files/federal-voter-registration_1-25-16_english.pdf. Print out a bunch and keep them with you. Register people on the spot!

If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led voter-run-around campaign help them do that. This site, https://www.aauw.org/resource/organize-a-voter-registration-drive/, has a how-to on organizing a voter registration drive. Or even sitting outside Wal Mart with a folding chair and a card table. Yes, that’s the American Association of University Women. And while we’re here organize a League of Women Voters chapter in your community if you don’t already have one. Fair, honest and above board. Democracy functions better with them involved.

It’s going to be amusing–in a “post-apocalyptic hellscape” kind of way–to see the Ryan-owning American oligarchs duking it out with the Trump-owning Russian oligarchs. They could all use a dose of hotel balconies.

"Koch network co-chair Brian Hooks cited Trump’s “tremendous lack of leadership” as contributing to the “deterioration of the core institutions of society” and said the “divisiveness of this White House is causing long-term damage.”
he continued “The damage we have been actively working at since the mid-90’s has not been the kind of damage we were hoping for. Although it’s great that we’ve nearly killed democracy, inflamed the lower orders with lies about who’s to blame, and taken the destruction of the environment as seriously as any party has in the past, this hurting of the markets…well… it’s wrong, that’s all. People are almost as much people as corporations, and what if those people couldn’t afford that 4th home? What then? Fortunately president Pence will give us everything we want.”

You are so spot on here. I heard an interview with Charles a few months ago on Freakonomics and I had a sensation of whiplash because he sounded so reasonable, then I had to remember all of the evil his billions have purchased in our government. Trump and all of the other low intelligence ideologues and right wing lunatics all have a straight line going back to the think tanks and campaign corruptions of the Koch brothers and their unabashed purchase of the American political system for the last 30 years. I am sorry to say the interviewer did a terrible job on calling him on his bullshit.

Like most “libertarians”, his belief in freedom extends about one foot past his property line.

Just gonna drop this here… I hate what the Koch’s have done regarding politics, but I do have to say that their ‘evil lucre’ extends into philanthropy for causes the Left claim they approve. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Koch#Philanthropy
My seeming defense only extends so far as pointing this out every once in a while… Happy to continue hating on the men who torpedoed the ACA so that the therapies discovered can only benefit the rich.

Agree. A gang war between oligarchs is a very logical outcome. But I am pretty sure it will involve very refined " Would you have any Grey Poupon?" sorts of tactics on the part of the Koch machine. Putin’s Russian mobsters are more comfortable with the more violent forms of murder and will continue to use their military as needed. With all the wealth they have sequestered, it will be epic. The down side is eventually the winner gets all the chips.

It’s a polite version of Shock Doctrine: “We spent hundreds of millions of dollars to make the mess you see now, so obviously you should give us more power and credibility so we can fix it. Yeah. Fix.”

If that happens, it will just mean that those Dems would have sold out to Chucky. Chucky expects return on investment.

@birdford
As I see it, the Kochs and Mercers plus a few others completely own the GOP. Once they’re tired of Trump, his future in politics is very limited.

“Libertarianism” is fascism repackaged without the overt hatred and racism in order to be more palatable and offer some intellectual appeal.

My thought/hope is that the very ascension (connotations intended) of Trump and the attendant horrors are, paradoxically and at the 11th hour, bringing the scope of this decades-long global criminal conspiracy into the light. Some percentage of those corrupt gangster assholes are going to do time, lose their fortunes, or lose their lives.

What would he do anyway in politics after beng President? Run for City Council?

I’m hoping that Donald heads off to prison.

ETA:
I see I didn’t answer your question, sorry. Trump’s plan is reelection. Plus going around to kleptocracies building towers being the senior statesman of grift.

What seems likely is that if the big donors recognize anddecide that dotard is too toxic to their cause, the entire right wing machine, from talk radio on up will turn on him. He has no friends, and only a small power base that will believe whatever Rush and Fox say.

It does seem that the tide began to turn with Helsinki.

@tena

ETA further:
And now Dotard’s spin shyster Rudy is on TV saying, in regard to the denial of Donald knowing about the TT meeting: “nobody can be sure of anything.” Sounds rather categorical.

Well you got what you paid for motherfuckers. The only sad thing is the losses your see won’t be diddly, change your lifestyle one bit, or get you to ever care fore the folks that already suffer and will so more because you helped put this dumb fuck in office. I wish there was a hell for you all, you guys actually do deserve it for a few millennia.

Wait, wait- where are the tiny ladies? They will help us!

Or they can sing us in any case…`

Well…
That was a nothing-burger.

They buy a Congress and then don’t want to use it?

That’s almost as big a waste of money as a Trumpp Presidential Library.
