What would the Devil tell you he was if you asked him?

An Angel or a Devil?

Please.

Hmmm, wonder why Mr. Social Liberal pours millions of dollars into opposing same sex marriage. And then there’s his obsession with Voter ID laws, too…

A recent issue of Forbes magazine showed how much various super-rich people have donated to charity over their lifetimes, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of wealth. I don’t have the issue handy, but while the “evil” George Soros has (so far) given away about 35% of his fortune, David Koch has given away about 3% of his. While 3% of $40B is a lot of money, it pales in comparison to his political contributions.

It is also disingenuous to say he has only given in compliance with the law when he has bribed every pocket possible to change the laws to allow him to contribute vast amounts of money in order to change even more laws.

I believe he might be socially liberal. It doesn’t matter though, for him it’s all about the $$$$ and whoever will help him have more.

What’s the old expression? “Actions speak louder than words”?

If we use that as the yardstick, Mr. Koch, you’re one of the most evil, repressive, pos sobs in the history of the USA, responsible for countless regressive policies negatively impacting the lives of millions. You’ve directly caused untold misery to millions of Americans with your support of retrograde laws that support your ABSOLUTELY non-“socially liberal” views, and your Ayn Rand fantasy-land conservative economic views. All in pursuit of what those actions tell us is your one true goal: more money.

You’re a pos, Mr. Koch. Everyone knows it. Those who agree with your views support you. Those that don’t know what a pos you are. Own it. It’ll make your life (what little is left of it, you old fart) easier in the long run.

that’s their problem

Yea, that’s they way the gay cookie crumbles, right Dave?
What a wretched coward and louse old Dave is, Bawa. Did you mention that in a follow-up?
I guess young, trophyesque Mrs. Dave isn’t liking the looks she’s getting at the ballet so it’s time to phone up the lowlifes at ABC for a little Jesus on Dino record twisting.
What a $$$ scuz…

Rich folks don’t give a shit about social issues. Their money overrides whatever laws are passed. Take abortion. It won’t matter to the rich if abortion is made illegal. Just like in the past, their doctors just write them up as D&Cs.

Or just fly somewhere where it’s a legal for a quick “vacation”.

ETA: I like that he shows that he’s a good guy because he’s NOT a social conservative. He must think they are all just rubes.

Hmmm, when was the last time we had a balanced budget?

“Koch said that he obeys federal limits on how much he can contribute to individual candidates.”

Yeah, he’s quite good at following all the laws that his money and influence helped craft.

“I love black people!”…what…he saw Jerry McGuire?

Classic “They hate me for my money” scam. If it were only that simple. That works in right wing world. The rest of us . . . . not so much.

D Koch says - “Well, that’s their problem.”

And there it is in a nutshell. He will decide what politico-morph monster we, as a society, will have to face. Now, this is a man that purposely takes a big, stinking public dump and expects us to clean it up and deal with it. When you’re dealing with a guy who can take such an enormous dump, it’s way beyond a laughing matter.

You don’t understand? Try this, Dimbulb: We’d be better off deciding as a nation what best to do with a small slice of your billions than fawning over your decision to buy more opera in NYC.

And the clowns you buy into office can’t tell fantasy from fact, so governance is going down the crapper.

Now do you get it?

So he’s really stupid enough to be doing all this because of inflation hysteria? Should we all pitch in to buy him a personal conference with Professor Krugman? All the social and political damage the Kochs are doing is because they’re working from 19th Century economic models (and Austrian-facist 20th Century variants thereon)?

If he is a social liberal I am a member of the Tea Party. Image make over for the masses. I notice that he is using ABC to get his message out. It seem that they has shifted to the right a hundred miles since the 60’s when they were the only network actually reporting on the Vietnam war.

Couple of things:

First, the fact that he was placed in a position to have to “defend” himself is a good thing

Second, this “Libertarian” business is the ultimate shake-shifter political stance. For twelve years I taught a required course in which “Liberalism”, “Conservatism” and “Libertarianism” were compared and contrasted. Libertarianism accommodates people who don’t wish to go to war (great for youngsters for whom that might be a hassle). It also accommodates people who would like to have the freedom to ingest whatever they like in their system. In the hands of an able snake-oil salesman like Rand Paul, it can be used to, in effect, slip in and out of awkward political dilemmas in dealing with different constituencies, of, in the case of stenographers like Barbara Walters, “journalists”.
