Discussion: Kobach Launches Kansas Guv Campaign With Hardline Immigration Stance

Recently the Kansas Legislature, which is still Republican, faced reality and killed the Brownback tax reduction. It seems they want nice things like roads and schools.

I saw that. Its about fucking time. It only took them 5 years to figure it out though.

The solution to Kansas’s vast immigration problem is so simple I am surprised Kobach hasn’t mentioned it.

The immediate execution of anyone hiring an illegal immigrant.

And the thing is if nominated, Kobach wins, yes people from Kansas are that dumb.

Laughable.

Trump in May signed an executive order creating a commission to do so, which has thus far borne no fruit.

I’m pretty sure the commission’s conclusions and recommendations have already been written. They just haven’t held any meetings or gathered any evidence yet.

Yes, that was the focus of the article. The NYT reported that Senator Tom Baldwin of Baldwin City cheered the end of “Sam’s march to zero.”

But someone else lauded Brownback’s toughened laws on abortion and guns.

Toughened laws on guns? Or fewer restrictions?

Six and a half, according to the NYT article.

I guess he’s never been to southwestern KS. Or maybe he has, and that’s the bug up his ass. It’s about time for western KS to consider secession again.

If I hadn’t already moved from that state, I’d have to now, just out of pure disgust for the current crop of folks in Topeka.

I’m just wondering how many people from outside of the US are thinking to themselves: “Well, gee, now that Kris Kobach is running for Governor of Kansas, I guess I’ll just have to give up on my life-long dream of emigrating to Topeka without a visa. Sigh. Life is so unfair.”

In the 80s we thought about moving to Lawrence. Supposed to be lovely. University of Kansas, nice college town, some hills, top-notch nuclear missiles. It’s actually got a rep as a really nice place to live.

I’m sure the urban areas are very nice.

Gerrymandering.

Well, it is also the land of extraordinarily low taxes, top-notch government services, full employment and the nation’s most stellar education system…

Oh, wait.

Can’t wait for Kobach to use the Konservative Kristian Konverstion talking points. Maybe he bring up protecting the flock from teh gays.

This speaks for itself:

Caveat:

The vote is a significant step for a measure that still faces long odds of becoming law because of the slim majority that Republicans hold in the Senate.

I wonder why this sort of “everybody calm down” reporting or a link to some is not in the article, but I can guess

Phase I, meaning Brownback. Phase II, meaning Kobach.

Is Brownback term-limited ? If so, surely Kobach can pick up all of Brownback’s 2 percent support.

Same thing they said about Obamacare … which is getting frighteningly closer to repeal every day.
