Is there something in the water in Kansas?

what’s bad for KKKobach is good for America.

When I go on a company trip, I expect them to pay for reasonable expenses, not my nightclub tab or gambling losses. Similarly, the State should have no obligation to pay for contempt fees that were levied only because of Kobach’s inexcusable defiance of the judge.

Kinda love that the move to cut off his “contempt” funding came from the Kansas House…rather than Senate. Hmm, interesting.

Are the political winds shifting or do they all just hate Kobach?

Lock him up!

The voters of Kansas elected him. I have no problem with sticking the taxpayers of the State with the costs of his incompetence. If they don’t like it, they know what to do about it, right?

Message to the people of Kansas: Your tax dollars at work.

Message to teachers and other public employees: You’re screwed!

Just look at the guy. Don’t YOU feel the hatred, boiling up within?

How can anyone NOT feel it?

Much like the eminently punchable mug of Scott Walker of Wisconsin. Two contemptible wingnuts!

I don’t know if they all just hate Kobach, but I’m pretty sure I do. What a moron.

Kris Kobach is the Ted Cruz of Kansas.

Looks like Kris’s 15 minutes are up. As far as who should pay for the contempt charge, Kobach should pay it. The State didn’t fail to act, he did in his official role.

Well that certainly will ensure that he personally and professionally respects the courts in the future…

If they don’t like it, they know what to do about it, right?

Actually, it is not clear that they do know what to do about it.

Ideally the judge would say she doesn’t want to burden the taxpayers of Kansas with fines incurred solely through KKKobach’s defiance of her order and simply sentence him to jail.

It’s exactly his refusal to carry out his duties as secretary of state that led to this sorry pass.

If anyone, the fines should be paid from the budget of that faux voter-fraud commission. Oh, wait. Maybe that’s why they disbanded.

Thanks for keeping these developments, that often don’t make beyond local press, in the national conversation, Ms Sneed. Appreciate this reporting.

Anyone else get the sense that Kobach’s gubernatorial aspirations are growing dimmer. Any opponent - primary or general - can raise these costs to the taxpayers based on his national aspirations. Not to mention that he is becoming a national laughing stock.

And what about the Kochs, why aren’t they paying for this?

I’m surprised the contempt order didn’t specify that Kobach couldn’t use state funds to pay the fine, but I guess a Kobach was putatively acting on behalf of the state.
