I realized that we were on the verge of failing as a nation when a Republican relative told me that it was OK for the Russians to help Trump beat Hillary. That view hasn’t changed among Republicans. The idea of patriotism and one big American family just doesn’t compute with them. They would rather America be Putin’s puppet than see a Democrat elected. That is nothing less than sick but that is where we find ourselves today.
