Discussion: Klobuchar Continues To Play Coy On 2020

RUN, AMY, RUN!!!

There, that made me feel better.

I really hope she runs, i like her. Although, at this point i guess she’s waiting for the Harris attention to die down a bit before throwing her hat in the ring

I hope she runs, for the good of the country. She’s a moderate voice in an electorally important region. Repubs won’t be able to sneer at ‘Minnesota values,’ and since sneering is what they do best it’ll take away a weapon.

Also, a year ago I put her as my darkhorse Democratic nominee, so…go me!

Harris is obviously whip-smart and would most likely be an effective leader. At this point in our history I’m concerned more about whose negatives can be driven up the most and I suspect Harris has a lot of vulnerabilities. Klobuchar comes across as smart, competent and for the moment, above the fray, plus she can pull mid-western votes.

It’s early, and everything can change in a heartbeat, but there’s a lot to like in her potential candidacy.

I don’t usually criticize the headlines, but…

“Play coy”? She’s not flirting with a guy at the Junior League tea dance. You wouldn’t, and haven’t, used that characterization for Biden. She hasn’t decided whether to run yet. Leave it at that.

The most common way to be heard in a crowd is to raise your voice. Often, however, the most effective way is to talk under people, and force them to quiet down and listen. There are lots of Democrats who fit the first description (and not necessarily wrong). Klobuchar would be the second type.

Amy Klobuchar and Sherrod Brown are my top 2. Hopefully they will both run so Dem primary voters will have plenty of strong, qualified candidates to choose from.

Yes, she made Brett Kavanaugh look very very small.

Klochubar had a moment when she could have gotten my support. When Kavanagh insulted her with something like, ‘Do you drink, have you’ve ever had a blackout’, she could have responded, “is that an appropriate answer to a US senator’s question.” She is too nice to be president.

Juan Castro for VP.

It appears that TPM, as part of its new, Uber TPM sign up drive, is subcontracting out the headline writing to POLITICO and Red State free lancers desperate to flex their GOP talking point skills.

To be fair to TPM, the headlines have sucked for a long time.

I disagree. Her answer put Kav to shame. Recalling her father’s own struggles with substance abuse, and how that affected her behavior as a young adult, made Brett look like the complete jerk that he is, and revealed a real steel in her spine. She was polite, but you could not mistake the disgust in her voice when she responded to that rude, unprofessional question.

I love Kamala, but Amy has some potential for me as well. I hope she gets in.

I like Amy.

There seems to be a lot of good feeling toward you, Amy, but don’t wait too long. Please.

I didn’t see it that way. She had me at that sly smile and arched eyebrow. A verbal throw down wasn’t necessary.

Uber TPM? Now that’s a bad headline. The name Josh gave it is much better: Prime As Fuck.

Fair AF.

I think that headlines are almost an afterthought in the process. Read the comments long enough, though, and you see that many commenters don’t appear to read much beyond the headline before they comment. It doesn’t go well when the headline is inaccurate or misleading.

“I will be making a decision shortly," she concluded.
