Discussion: King Claims His Words Were Taken Out Of Context In NYT Story

So Stevie you know that reporters tape these interviews? Are you calling for the Times to release the tapes?
NYT reporter roll that big befuddled racist Congressman’s interview tape!

Hey Steve, you know that reporters generally record this shit? Sounds like you just gave them permission to release the actual recording. Lol.

It’s difficult to translate his “explanation” into coherent English, but I tried anyway.

My best effort:
His complaint sounded like “why is ‘white supremacist’ an offensive term now?” when taken out of context by the NYT.
His in-context complaint is that "white supremacists have sads, because people who call them ‘white supremacists’ believe that ‘white supremacist’ is a negative, offensive label.

King: “I think I finally went too far…”

He means: “My words were taken out of the context where they were automatically assumed to be true”.

“I was quoted accurately, but out of context, because people attached a meaning to my words that is unpopular.”

Do you mean “true,” or “accurate?”

Always remember that the politicians are just a symptom. The disease is the members of their district who elect them and re-elect them despite knowing all this.

Looking at you, 4th District in Iowa…

Say egregious racist comment. Wait for outrage. Make several aggrieved comments about the “attacks”.

Put out a fundraising letter based on those “attacks.”

Rinse and Repeat.

ETA - and yes, as was pointed out yesterday when I wrote something similar - this equally applies to the grifter in Chief.

He means they were taken out of their natural environment (the Daily Stormer) and placed in a context where they might sound, I dunno, kinda nazi.

“Why do I have to explain myself?” King later wondered. “Iowans knew what they were getting and they still voted for me because I’m one of them.”

Given this is the first and only time Kingy has ever uttered a racist thought, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the douche.

Sounds exactly right.

The Congressmen would argue that at the Wannsee Conference Heydrich took Hitler’s rantings out of context…

It is almost as if King was using David Irving as a PR consultant…

See? There you go… When did Nazi become a pejorative??? I believe King wants an answer on that.
