Discussion: Kim Davis Declines Oath Keepers Offer To Protect Her From Authorities

Discussion for article #240472

Smart move, particularly if the marshals must conduct her away again.

Even Kim recognized the hilarity of the oathbreaker soliciting help from Oathkeepers to promote continuing oathbreaking.

Right now the Oath Keepers are saying “thank you” in as many languages as they know. Which would be English and Profane.

So her surrender is basically complete. She’s letting her deputies issue licenses, she refuses protection, and she files a wimpy lawsuit. She recognizes she’s lost, even if her lawyers don’t.

“issuing a stand-down”

These guys are pure entertainment. Like this is some big military operation. Like little kids playing games…except these clowns have real guns.

Well, they did save Texas from Martial Law…

martial law would have been a blessing.

Not yet. It has not been decided if the certificates will be valid without her name on them. And she is still refusing to do her job.

I so rarely quote Rick Perry, but even a stopped clock is right once a day.

Texas has lots of fine people. Hell, Austin is arguably the most progressive city in the US, and San Antonio is a cool place too.

i’m pretty sure SF or even Santa Cruz would have Austin beat, but yes Austin is the sole reason I can think of to not boot Texas out of the Union.

That would require something that Bible Thumpers do not possess: Self-Awareness (and a sense of Irony)

“Upon request by Kim Davis’ legal team, Oath Keepers is canceling the
planned security detail for Mrs. Davis in Morehead, Kentucky,” the
group’s founder, Stewart Rhodes, said in a statement.
“We will, of course, respect her wishes, and are hereby issuing a
stand-down for our security volunteers who were planning on deploying to
Morehead, Kentucky on Monday.”

There’s some serious dumbfuckery going on in Mr Rhodes’ head. Talk about a militaristic mind set… How on this green earth do those folk in Oath Keepers manage to pass background checks related to gun purchases?

For which she should be in jail … still. What a toxic work environment that office must be. I don’t see why a recall movement hasn’t started in her county.

And there’s nothing funny or entertaining I can see about these ammosexual “oath keepers”. They’re Rambo wannabe’s who are a trigger pull away from ending someone’s life accidentally or deliberately. There is the case of one of these crazy folk “standing guard” on a sidewalk outside an establishment who dropped his firearm and it discharged. They could easily kill or maim someone.

I do not want her in jail, that just make her a martyr. I prefer her being prevented from entering her work premises. Basically a reverse house arrest. Instead of “this is the only place you can stay”, it’s “this is the only place you can’t go”…

issuing a stand-down for our security volunteers

The black crayon made it official.
