Devastating!
I saw that earlier this morning, it’s very powerful.
TRUMP - He absolutely would!
Win. Probably the best ad of the campaign…at least that I’ve seen so far. Listening to him talk about his son just shreds me.
What a powerful ad.
Holy shit…I lost it. I’m humbled by Captain Khan’s bravery. He is a true, selfless American hero. I hope I can live my life well enough to honor his sacrifice. I’m still choked up. Powerful.
Dear Mr. Khan,
Sadly in a nation like Trump and his advisers envision, neither your son nor any member of your family would have a place in this nation.
My mother’s family came over on the Mayflower and my father’s came over in 1900 from Sweden. They came seeking a better life for themselves and their children. My daughter would have no place here because she is a single mother. My granddaughter would have no place because she is part Native American and my grandson would be euthanized because he has mental health problems. I would be killed for speaking out against Trump and his policies. So, my family would have no place either.
No, Mr. Khan, your son would have no place here under Donald Trump, but you and your family would not be alone. Just about every American would fall under the same standards as you and your family, because we are all descendants of immigrants or have the wrong ideas about faith or have educations or have health problems or do not look the way Neo-Nazis want people to look. Your loss in defense of this nation was the ultimate one any American family makes, and you have my overwhelming sorrow for your loss. There is nothing that can replace a lost child - NOTHING!
Mr. Khan, you and your wife are two of the bravest people I have ever seen in the public forum. I know making your loss so public was difficult, but your courage at standing up to Donald Trump was amazing. Your son would be very proud of you for embodying the very essence of free speech in this nation at a time when privacy would have been the easier course. Your clarion call to the people of this nation to understand our Constitution and to stand against the kind of tyranny that Trump would inflict on this nation was important and necessary for everyone to hear. Thank you.
And, to the rest of America, do not let the Khans’ sacrifice be in vain. Vote on November 8th, and make sure that Donald Trump does not win this election. Stand up and say to the Trumps and their campaign of hate that you are proud of our great nation and even prouder still that people like the Khans live here.
Sincerely,
Rev. Devon J. Noll
Very, very effective.
Khan: “I want to ask Mr. Trump, would my son have a place in your America?"
Religious and ethnic scapegoats will always have a place in Trump’s America.
Trump TV will need lots of people like Khan for its production of “The Two-Minute Hate”.
This question should be asked of Trump’s supporters as well, not just Trump. Trump will leave and return to his gilded slum when the attention is off of him, but he’s riled the racist base that makes up a large, if not near majority, of the Republican party and conservative voters and we’ll still have to deal with them. Lets get them on the record.
After having become a little hardened over the last few months of this nightmare campaign, this ad has me in tears. Incredibly powerful.
The Hillary ads are amazing this year.
I lost it too. Too much pain.
Yes. This was one of the turning points in the election.
Edited to add: Thank you for posting this open letter.
One of the most well done, hard hitting ads of all time.
I wish the Clinton campaign would leave the Khan family alone. I know he is doing this voluntarily, and even eagerly, but he’s in way over his head and the Clinton people know this all too well. He and his poor family have suffered enough and sacrificed enough.
True but maybe, the family volunteered to do the ad.
I thought about this as well and some may even react negatively to it for that reason (aside from the anti-Muslim racists who would react negatively anyway). I think it was up to the Khan family to decide whether to be involved or not. Clearly they felt they owed it to his son and the nation he served.
