Discussion: Key Industry Groups Blast Amended Obamacare Repeal Bill

It’s kind of cute that these industry groups think this healthcare bill is about health care.

It’s about saving rich people money. It will do that, so all other considerations are moot.

I’m in a deep red state. My Congressperson will vote for this bill enthusiastically, and he will be reelected handily next year. The other members of Congress here will all do the same and will likewise be reelected.

O yeah.

The only silver lining in this whole mess.

We should all be much more deeply concerned that the AHCA will result in millions of Americans losing their lives!

As was sung by Janis Joplin (and many others), “Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose,” and only in death has one nothing left to lose.

Why does Paul Ryan want to take health insurance from those who need it so badly and shift the savings to the wealthiest among us? I am ashamed that he claims to be a Catholic. The teachings of Christ tell us to care for the least among us, to feed the hungry and clothe the naked and visit the imprisoned and heal the sick. Ryan is a fraud on so many levels and his constituents should vote him out.

If these groups want to have a real impact the can run ads in every Republican district in America.

It has to do with $1500 bottles of wine and lobster dinners. He is corrupt in very petty ways. He truly believes he is better than the peasants and they don’t deserve healthcare.

This doesn’t just hurt the poor and the minorities. It mostly hurts older whites in the middle class and it will hurt them directly. The usual calculus doesn’t apply.

“Although the MacArthur Amendment states that the ban on preexisting conditions remains intact, this assurance may be illusory as health status underwriting could effectively make coverage completely unaffordable to people with preexisting conditions,” Madera continued. “There is also no certainty that the requirement for states to have some kind of reinsurance or high-risk pool mechanism to help such individuals will be sufficient to provide for affordable health insurance or prevent discrimination against individuals with certain high-cost medical conditions.”

Doctors and hospitals want to get paid. Insurance companies want to expand the number of insured people on their rolls and be paid the amount promised to them by law under the ACA. People of a certain age and people with pre-existing conditions (such a stupid term, BTW - it is just people with existing health conditions) want a chance at decent affordable healthcare and a decent life.

So the constituency for this steaming pile of shit Ryan is pushing consists of Tea Partiers too dumb to know that Medicare is actually a government program and the top tier of earners in the country who will get a big tax break that they don’t actually need. That and a small percentage of doctors (like Tom Price) who want to get paid a lot of money for a few patients than a reasonable amount for a lot of patients.

Once again, is there any doubt who is actually running the country? Nobody who understands healthcare endorses this idiotic and cruel legislation, and yet Ryan pushes on.

FUCK INSURANCE - HEALTHCARE FOR ALL

Popcorn, please. We demand it!

Except nowadays, we’re watching the scariest horror movie ever made – rather than the ridiculous comedy they were before they controlled the world.

Who knew that Paul Ryan would suck as the US Speaker of the House of Representatives?

He’s as worthless as a pebble lying in the street waiting for something to move it!

My thoughts exactly!

I think articles, like this one, need to start putting down on paper what “pre-existing” condition means in layman terms.
Think about this (true story) > As it happens, yesterday, I asked my back doctor if my herniated disc could be considered a PRE-existing Condition.

My Dr’s response, “Any diagnosable medical condition can be defined as Pre-existing…relative to health insurance…” >> Cancer (breast in my case), Asthma, Alcoholism, Hernia, Acid Reflux, Acne, Cystic fibrosis, Endometriosis, Problematic heart murmur, mental illness such as depression, bi-polar … etc etc

Brilliant! I hope this catches on!

Pre-existing condition is insurance double speak for any health condition that you might have at the time of enrollment.

Your right-wing friends would tell you that this is the essence of federalism or, as they like to call it in the South,
“States’ Rights”, where every state can choose its own course within a loose and fairly weak Federal framework.

I keep hearing that, but honestly don’t get it. There aren’t that many R Senators in risky positions to justify giving this bill a pass in the House and betting on the Senate to kill it. McConnell et al have demonstrated with the Garland / Gorsuch theft, the Burr Russian “investigation” headfake, among many other acts, that they give fewer than zero fucks about the old rules. If this bill passed the House, I fully expect that Yertle would kill the filibuster dead once and for all, and that McCain, Susan Collins and the rest would harumph before voting to let it pass.

Fine let them. We’re going to have a wave election next year and if they kill the filibuster that just means they have disarmed themselves in advance going into the minority again.

But it’s CW that this will never make it through the Senate so it isn’t just me.
