what prevents Congress from doing the same to average Americans?"
Ummmm… average Americans aren’t RUNNING THE FUCKING COUNTRY!?
This fucker ran uncontested.
Can our Texas friends please do something about this in 2018?
Trump has not recused himself from his businesses, has numerous obvious conflicts of interest that we already know of and many we probably don’t, and has some sort of sordid connection with Russia.
It’s a no-brainer his tax returns, which basically every other President has released, need to be assessed. To compare his position to that of an ordinary American is asinine.
Republicans won’t take this seriously until it all blows up in their face.
Privacy and civil liberties are still important? Oh good. Then the Republicans will respect a woman’s right to choose and make it easy for all to vote and speak out against Islamophobia and…
“If Congress begins to use its powers to rummage around in the tax returns of the President, what prevents Congress from doing the same to average Americans?” House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady wrote in a statement.
Well, Kevin, you shouldn’t have to rummage around in the President’s tax returns. A presidential candidate should release 5 or 10 years of returns voluntarily like most have done for over 30 years. What prevents you from doing the same to average Americans is common sense and the understanding that they are not fucking running for President. And, by the way, fuck you Brady.
this one is real easy you dumb fuck, average Americans are not in a position where the information contained in their tax returns presents a conflict of interest in the daily decisions they make, whereas a President is
you, sir, are underqualified for the position you hold if you do not understand this simple relation
Because it’s in the middle of Wingnutia, no sane person lives there much less runs for office.
“If Congress begins to use its powers to rummage around in the tax returns of the President, what prevents Congress from doing the same to average Americans?”
The average American isn’t a Russian mole with the launch codes?
Just a guess…
Just another rotten, hypocritical Rethuglian, or so it would seem. One can only imagine the consequences if a Democratic administration were in power. Oh, wait, we just saw a demonstration of that for the last eight years…cripes. Party before country, every time.

[/quote]Is this a multiple choice question, short answer, or does he prefer a detailed essay (with footnotes and citations)?
Trump is the GOP; the GOP is Trump. They are all in on the scam.
You fucking IDIOT! Americans need to know if he’s milking the country dry, you effing ass licker!!!
Liked for “effing ass licker.”
That sound you hear is every tax lawyer in America blasting letters to their clients about the new, totally bulletproof “rummage” defense.
I believe many " average citizens" have had their taxes reviewed and many have gone to jail due to tax violations found in those reviews
You are exactly correct. He serves the heart of Tea Party Texas.
Several GOP did including my rep and another GOP rep from Dallas. I’m still furious about that too.
It’s unacceptable. We would have voted my rep and Phil Sessions out of Congress if they had had opponents.
I don’t know how to get the state party to run someone if they can’t find someone, but we need to try a lot harder.
Also, the explicit conditions of the law which limit their power of review to taxpayers potentially involved in criminal activity.
“If Congress begins to use its powers to rummage around in the tax returns of the President, what prevents Congress from doing the same to average Americans?” Brady wrote in a statement obtained by TPM on Tuesday. “Privacy and civil liberties are still important rights in this country and the Ways and Means Committee is not going to start to weaken them.”
That statement sounds a lot like Chaffetz’s
Anyhow, both presidential and Trump oversight were important campaign issues last fall. #Notevennewshit
Yes, Trump’s tax returns were also mentioned last cycle. However that issue got more play than a GOP House being able to check Trump.
