Discussion: Key Group Of Hill GOPers Breaks With Trump On Immigration Orders

Gosh! An outside observer might suspect that trump just doesn’t have what it takes to be president. Unless repubs just need him to sign stuff. Of course the down side is he might sign stuff when no one’s looking over his shoulder except Steve Banon. Small price to pay I suppose.

Where is the Republican leadership? They are ethically challenged. Ven McCain, Sasse, and Graham don’t mention the religious profiling. Sasse seems to excuse it. The deafening silence of the Republicans generally is disturbing. Where are they today? The country is protesting and they ignore it. In my city, the protest was not mostly college students, primarily adults.

Will be interesting to see how things progress in McCain’s case. PTSD vs NPD. Should be interesting.

No disrespect to McCain intended. He can be okay sometimes, has been many times. I hope he gets to wipe the floor with Trump at some point. And Graham too.

That rhetoric would pull a lot more weight if the Republican Party itself did not rely on an “apocalyptic ideology of hatred” to win elections.

One wonders how far McCain will go to burnish his “maverick” bona fides…

Pinning your hope on the man that elevated Sarah Palin is a faint hope indeed.

I wonder how bad things have to get before the GOP removes trump?

Grover Norquist once joked that all the GOP needed in a candidate was someone with five fingers to sign bills. I wonder how is Muslim wife, Samah, is feeling about things these days.

I wasn’t pinning my hopes for the welfare of this country on McCain if that’s what you’re implying. But I would like to see him get to kick sand back in Trump’s face. Yah, I do hope that happens. I’d like to see it a whole lot.

I don’t think these mild words can be considered “breaking with Trump.” I’ll give them credit when they bring up legislation to stop him, refuse to vote for cabinet nominees that don’t renounce the policy, or resign from the Republican party that Trump leads.

On the other hand, Orrin Hatch is on the sidelines, gauging which way the wind is blowing on this. As soon as he can figure out which stance will benefit him the most, he’ll pick a side.

I think it’s a pretty huge development that less than a week and a half into a Republican administration, after eight years of a Democratic president no less, members of his own party are openly criticizing their own president. He’s already fighting with people on his side of the aisle. Even Joe Lieberman kept his fool mouth shut for at least the first few months.

I think all of this is the key to surviving Peepee, the key to saving the country. If he continues to pick fights with his own party it’s going to be increasingly impossible for him to get what he wants from them and vice versa. There are too many massive egos involved who’d be willing to slice their own noses off than capitulate. Plus, with all the protesting, the media backlash, and Peepees historic unpopularity there’s just not a whole lot of reasons to fear what might happen if they don’t work with him.

While I am no fan of Graham, he is beginning to look like the lone voice of sanity in the GOP. He must feel like he is Sisyphus at times.
And if McCain had any balls, he could say “I’m no fan of people who kowtow to Putin”

“…always looking to start World War III”

Generally Trump can only talk about himself and anytime he is flinging mud he’s usually flinging something that applies to him.

Between this comment and accusing the IC with that “what is this Nazi Germany?” comment these are very, very troubling times.

Hope everyone is picking their battles and stepping up to fight. It won’t get any easier as time goes on. Our best chance is to fight now for all we are worth.

The House Freedom Caucus flew into fits of rage and hysterics for eight years over executive orders and how the President isn’t King. Where are they now?

We need to find allies where we can. That this group of senators is opposing trump at all is good news. If it isn’t pitch perfect to liberals, so be it (@JCS). There are other republicans who were never trump or are now seeing that he is going way to far. We need them all if trump is to be removed from office.

As for hope, mine is free and there’s more where that came from.

Interesting that it took them 24 hours to figure this out. I guess they couldn’t see their windsocks for the protesters.

I’ve got this one:

Fuck you, Sid McCrashcup!

It’s not a tic, it’s a feature!™
