If they are going to ram it through anyway, Ford has the good sense not to allow them to burn her at the stake first. It will all come out in the next month or two – what he did to her, the blackout drinking, the gambling debts, how the mysterious $200,000 in debts disappeared. It won’t help them with conservative voters (he was a terrible choice when there were 15 others lined up that could have glided through). And it will just harden the resolve of women and moderates even more.
in Josh’s voice:
moderates always cave
DiFi knows who bought-up his markers. If she has to, I believe she’ll release that information. The attempted rape, blackout drinking, and gambling debt are not the whole story.
The question MSM should be asking: “Who bought-up his markers?”
A: #MOB
So WHY is the GOP afraid to have these allegations investigated… if they are so sure they are untrue, they should be the ones arguing for the investigation not arguing against it.
A lot can be learned by listening to what is NOT said
Dr. Ford deserves to be heard. Instead, the Grand Old Politburo is going to pencil in her obligatory fifteen-minutes, making a big horse-and-pony show of their feigned generosity while hearing less than nothing.
Right, a “good faith” gesture where they refuse to let any of her corroborating/supporting witnesses testify. Actually, that does seem pretty on par with Republican “good faith” in general.
I guess if you can claim Republican tax cuts aren’t for the rich, and Trump was chosen by God himself, then you can say Grassley is acting in “good faith.”
Being “heard” is clearly the preferred messaging selected by the Republicans regarding Christine Blasey Ford. Kellyanne Conway first used it and it’s been echoed by Republican members of congress since.
Given Kellyanne’s experience as a pollster, I wouldn’t be surprised if the “being heard” verbiage applied to women whose voices on sexual abuse have gone unheard for centuries has been amply tested and deemed to be successful in influencing voters to think that women are being treated fairly.
Beware – being heard is not the same as “being taken seriously” or “being investigated” and it’s not enough.
Good Faith and Republicans go together like crucifixes and vampires. This is a total shit show of their own making. Even their “good faith” is done in bad faith. Own it bastards.
“Law and order party” seems to have gone the way of the “family values party.”
IMportant distinctions:
“Law and Order” means “keeping poor people, brown people, and uppity unionists in line.” This is good.
“Rule of Law” means, “What, we can’t do whatever the hell we want?” This is bad.
“Family Values” was always bullshit.
Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), who is not on the Senate Judiciary Committee, tweeted Tuesday night that Republicans had acted in “good faith” by offering Blasey Ford a chance to testifying about her allegations. But he said if “both sides” don’t testify as scheduled on Monday, the confirmation should be put to a vote.
Leave it to the GOP to make rape a partisan issue.
Very effective argument for rapists every where.
Mean F head with all his listeners heard a rumer.
These senators know that her position is crumbling. She has only one thing to offer - her outrage at being “molested” 35 years ago.
I wonder if she will appear. It won’t be a public hearing, I just bet. Which would be another strategic error. If she has a lawyer, he is incompetent.
If you are talking TrumpWorld, you are not talking about any-old mob.
You are talking Russian mob. You are talking Putin.
As Eleanor Homes Norton pointed out last evening on MSNBC, Ford is getting MUCH LESS due process than Hill did 27 years ago. Hill could involve witnesses after an investigation.
Be heard, then be ignored in every way that matters
The Dems should boycott the sham hearing on Monday.
