Discussion: Key GOPers Dodge Whether Obamacare Repeal Will Increase The Uninsured

Yea… like these old, out of shape repubs can handle it …

             ------ NOT THIS TIME ------

“Does it cover more people with affordable health care than today?”

Of course not. Republicans would regard such a plan as a failure.

Please don’t ask us questions about this, please! We know it’s a POS that screws our constituents, but we have to do it because the Koch brothers say so!

Please only ask questions to which we can spew our prepared, pre-packaged bs answers. Better yet, do not ask any questions at all and we will just proceed immediately to the bs. Be sure to wear your boots. It’ll get pretty deep very quickly.

“more people have opted out of Obamacare than are taking it, and those who have it, frankly can’t use it. The deductibles are too high. The copayments are too high. It doesn’t help them.”

That’s some top notch Jujitsu BS right there. Hats off to the liar from Texas.

Paul Ryan: People want the freedom to be uninsured.
FOX: Insurance is Tyranny.
Trump: Its also very very expensive as ObamaCare taught us.

And it doesn’t seem to have occurred to him that making the deductibles higher, making the co-payments higher, making the subsidies lower, which his plan does, doesn’t help!

Brady answered neither question, instead telling reporters than in his Texas district “more people have opted out of Obamacare than are taking it, and those who have it, frankly can’t use it. The deductibles are too high. The copayments are too high. It doesn’t help them.”

Reporter: “Citations please.”

Ha, ha, ha, oh geez, sometimes I crack myself up! :joy:

Brady was talking about his own Texas Congressional District. Surely, the numbers are available to prove him right or wrong. Truth teller or liar. I hereby ask TPM to check with Kaiser Health News - Larry Levitt - and give us the straight scoop.

He argued Tuesday that the CBO score is not necessary to push ahead with a committee markup of the bill.

Its So bad that they want to pass it before the CBO analysis can be completed…

If Congress adopts the Republican plan put out today, of course it will significantly raise the number of low income citizens without health insurance coverage.
Less healthcare coverage wi increase the misery of low income Americans, isn’t that the Republican’s goal ?
Reduced coverage mean less money the government pays to subsidized healthcare and that money the Republicans engineered to be repurposed to give big tax cuts to insurance company executives who are making over $500K/year…

“Disingenuous” is the word that comes to mind.

First, Republicans broke Obamacare through deliberate neglect. The program was a success, and could continue to be.

Second, access to health insurance is not actual care, especially since insurance mainly exists to funnel money to hospitals to cover inflated expenses. Insurance helps little with day-to-day costs.

Third, Republicans say they want the poor to pay something in taxes, but for some odd reason they don’t want them to pay anything for health care, leaving their only option being expensive emergency room treatment.

Paid by the middle class.

Krugman thinks they’ll try to rush it through so the CBO can’t point out that it will. He also say rather than an Obamacare 2.0 it more like Obamacare 0.5!

Brady is a heartless bastard and the enemy of working people. He was delighted with the the idea of taxing employees on their employer-paid premiums for health insurance. There was a picture of him in the NYT walking out of the meeting when that was made part of the GOP proposal (now dropped as too toxic) with a shit-eating grin on his face.

Is this really a Christian?

"The facts of the matter are not what this will or won't do going forward, the fact is that we've arrived at the scene of a pretty big wreck and we're trying to clean up the mess."
Actually, if you're too late to prevent the wreck, what you do going forward from that point can either save lives, or cause people to die.

As opposed to the wealthy, whom they don’t want to pay any taxes.

What is it with Republicans and short fingers?

Now, now… that wouldn’t be, y’know, polite.

Thank you, sir, Mr. Representative, sir. Please let us know, sir, at your convenience, sir, what your prepared answers are for the next round so we can prepare our questions appropriately, sir.
