Thereās that word again - āaccessā.
Not a death knell for the ACA, but definitely not a great sign.
Talk about trying to straddle an electric fence . . .
Well, sheās not dancing yet but she can hear the music.
Explaining that āPresident Trumpā¦assured meā is part of your decision making process is like saying, āPlease steal all my belongings, Iām completely clueless to the world and events around me.ā
In W Va. --34% of non-elderly ( people ages 0-64) are recipients of Medicaid benefits. Hopefully, Capito votes to repeal those benfits since people have to suffer, unfortunately, to understand that elections have consequences. Also, repeal will affect the elderly in nursing homes as well as employment opportunities in the state since health care is the fastest growing job creator in the state.
I really hope that she votes to repeal the ACA. They may not be interested in Russiagate but repeal of Obamacare might get their attention.
The poor Trump voters of her state will suffer mightily if she gives them the repeal that they demand.
Politically, she needs to repeal Obamacare, but save ACA. That would be a trick.
Donāt know if you saw this?
Did Trumpās $12 a year insurance plan come from this add running heavily on FOXNews (where else?). If true, this alone is enough to impeach this jackass for shear stupidity including malfeasance, misfeasance and all the other feasances!
Thereās some coverage in the ACA providing benefits for treatment of black lung disease specifically directed at coal miners. She has to turn her back on those miners in her state who need that treatment. Itās hard to imagine she would, but for now she has to say what McConnell wants to hear.
@cec327 I think itās a terrible notion to hope she votes to repeal just because some voters might wake up and vote against her later. People will continue to suffer and even die and never think, oh yeah, letās go after this politician.
Make your reservations today, before they get crowded.
Shouldnāt the word āmoderateā in the headline appear in irony-alluding quotes?
it is a relative term, but letās remember that this woman supports grotesque tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of our economy, opposes science on climate change, and backs the removal of entire mountains to prop up the embers of the dying coal industry.
Not saying sheās Ted Cruz ā but she aināt no āmoderateā ā nor are 90 percent of modern day Republicans so described inside the Beltway.
As Mr. Marshall has pointed out on numerous occasions, āGOP moderatesā always cave. Always. I am more hopeful that Rand Paul and Mike Lee will scuttle these motions. We really are through the looking glass here, people.
Collins is the only firm no, and only because she wants out of the Senate and into the Governorās mansion. McCain is sidelined for a bit. Those are the only two votes McConnell can afford to lose.
Every other āmoderateā is just waiting for the right bribe.
Can McConnell deliver in time?
Counting on the GOP to scuttle their own bills is not a winning plan. Though it is all we have.
And since we donāt even know what they will be voting ON, we have no idea whoās in play, really.
āModerate Republicanā is a contradiction in terms. It appears as if Senator Capito is fearful of being "primaried " by some tea party ignoramus. Or Trumpmeister is whispering sweet nothings in her ear about her being a 10. I truly hope she does not sell her West Virginia constituents down the swamp. If she does, she will be exposed as the female Judas Iscariot to her constituents.
Paul already sold his vote on MTP for a slot to get his amendment voted on. He whored away his āprinciplesā for less than cheap.
I still subscribe to the theory that they need to pass something, anything, and then create the ārealā bill in conference committee.
Capito is NOT NOT NOT NOT a moderate. Sheās a conservative from a state whose residents will be devastated by repeal of Obamacare. She has no political cover to repeal and replace, but you can be damn sure she wants to. If any new version or political event develops that will give her the opportunity and the cover to devastate her own state for this sick GOP goal, sheāll vote āYeaā without any remorse.
I donāt think thereāll be much of a conference. I think it will be whatever the senate passes and full pressure on the house to pass that, fast.
Then a party in the rose garden, and a night of Tweeting.
