Like Cosby, he has the money to drag this out forever. I hope that, like Cosby, if he is guilty he does some real time. He is hard to judge because he almost always plays evil characters, so I am sure my impression of him is biased by this. But if he is guilty of half of it, he needs to go away and do some time.

Nice coat, but I’m less sure about the choice of shirt.

A local legal analyst has suggested that he’s likely to try pleading it down to a misdemeanor. Sounds about right. He’s behind the 8-ball, because the young man in question was telling his girlfriend about what was going on as it happened, and the victim’s mother is a former news anchor who went public, and also fought a public battle against cancer a few years so, so she has a lot of credibility.

I hate it when people whose body of work I so greatly admire get themselves in career ending situations that could be avoided.

Kevin was brilliant in American Beauty and so many other productions. House of Cards blows without him. I’m not surprised but totally bummed.

I hope he never sees the light of day ever again.Seriously, he was never acting, he was just playing himself. There’s a reason why his worst films are ones where he was trying to be normal

I shade no tears for someone that sexually assaults anyone. None at all.

Is anyone else here just generally fed up with the pedestals that celebs are put on and the wave of, ā€˜but he was so good at this!’ comments?

Hey, I’m not shedding tears for him and I’m not excusing his bad behavior. I’m lamenting the loss of his work which is at least for me separate from his personal life fuck ups. One can do both.

Exactly, it’s entertainment. Look at OJ. Watching him play football on you tube is still great, even if he sliced up two people. But even before that, I never put him on a pedestal, nor anyone else just for being a celeb. Pedestals are for people who contribute to mankind. Yes, many celebs do that, but so do lots of teachers, scientists, etc. Pedestals are for those people. Jon Voight is a flaming asshole who deserves no pedestal. But I love most of his work.

The notion that a person should be on a pedestal just because they are celebs is absurd. No pedestals for the Kardashians please…

I fail to see what the mother having cancer has to do with KEVIN SPACEY; unless she has medical bills that have to be paid.

It makes the victim more sympathetic. Everyone on the jury will know about his mother, and feel warmly toward her. Not what you want as a defense attorney. (The case won’t be heard in Dukes County, which is Nantucket, but it’s likely to be heard on Cape Cod or in a court in eastern Massachusetts.)

What about him? When I found out he liked to get way, way too friendly with young boys, all affection for anything he’d done was gone.

Felony indecent assault and battery, and a second, not related to this case, sexual assault?

I guess that I don’t consider those to be just one of life’s little fuckups. Maybe to Kevin Spacey or Brett Kavanaugh that’s all it is, but not for me.

that’s my point - i refuse to get on the ā€˜what a great artist’ bandwagon

Why don’t we wait to hear both sides of the story. I have issues with many of these well known people who get dismissed and can no longer work because a ā€œnobodyā€ makes a vague accusation.

Have you seen Adolf Hitler’s paintings? Here’s one of them:
