All we heard during the reign of Oedipus Tex was âdonât let the Muslin Terriers disrupt your life.â President Obama didnât. The President had prior commitments that he carried through. Nothing that happened in Brussels had anything to do with the President of the United States. Contrary to American misconceptions, the world does not view the U. S. President as âLeader of the Free World.â
Prime Minister Cameron went on holiday as scheduled. Queen Elizabeth, the night of the attack, went out to dinner in a public restaurant with her daughter and cousin. The British get it. (Probably all those years of Nazi raids and IRA attacks).
The complaints about the President seem to be two-fold. One - heâs a two term President, despite the best Republican efforts. Two - he was visiting two countries the Republicans think are unimportant. I guess he should have followed the precedent set by Oedipus Tex and have run and hid at an âundisclosed location.â
Secretary of State John Kerry defended President Barack Obama traveling in the midst of an attack in Brussels in an interview aired Sunday by saying that the President's scheduled isn't "set by terrorists."
Fused participle. Try âdefended President Barack Obamaâs traveling in the midst of an attack in Brussels.â
That meme is condescending, isnât it?
As annoying as the âCommander in Chiefâ meme that the Republicans started using post 9/11. C-in-C is just one of the many duties listed in the Constitution. C-in-C isnât his title, President is.
Oedipus Tex struggling to contain the Terrier threatâŚcan you believe
this defective P.O.S. was actually the C.I.C.?
That damned dog just had to run for help when Bush choked on that pretzel.
Its instructive that you never hear that the President needs to return to the US from a diplomatic visit to another country when an ISIS terrorist attack happens in Iraq, places in Africa, or Turkey for example.
A ISIS attack did indeed happen in Iraq while he was out of the country and not one word about his needing to come home to deal with that. Many innocent people were killed and injured in that attack as well.
The level of hypocrisy on the right is all to obvious for anyone to see if they really wanted to look.
Good luck with that, Navamske. Here we are still on the level of âreinâ vs. âreignâ and âleadâ (past tense) vs. âledâ.
But what gets me is how the âliberalâ media has to have others weigh in on the tantrums the Republicans throw. After 8 years, they have to know by now the outrage is pure bullshit. Like you mentioned, there have been attacks by ISIS in places like Turkey and Africa yet you hear nothing from the GOP about Obama having to stop what heâs doing in order to comfort the American people when another country is attacked. When the media runs with the claims Republicans make, itâs lending credibility to what they are saying when we all know the attacks are political and not made out of genuine concern. Itâs tiresome that the press still doesnât seem to get that.
Thought this might be of interest: Syrian forces retake the city of Palmyra from ISIS.
They still get to tout âboth side-ismsâ believing that makes them above it all. The days of calling out the bullshit on the right disappeared when Bush was selected President by SCOTUS and they showed their complicity by throwing us into a pre-emptive War in Iraq. The media responsible for that debacle have barely taken stock of that even to this day. So for them to admit one party has its head up its royal ass, just isnât gonna happen.
Its not just the big banks that need breaking upâŚIts the 6 major media conglomerates that control 90% of what we see and hear by way of news.

It was a good answer, but a ridiculous question. Not that anyone should be surprised. John Dickerson has made a career out of lending credence to Republicansâ selective outrage.
Iâm planning a trip to Europe in June-July. I am not gonna let thugs ruin my life.
The mistake we on the left make is to take such accusations from Republicans seriously, when no one else does. The public understands that the Pres doesnât dance to the beat of terrorists.
When this kind of snipping occurs, as simple response from the WH communications director to the effect of âthe President doesnât arrange his schedule by the demands of terrorist no matter how desperately Republicans wish him to do so. Weâll leave it to Republicans to capitulate to terror if they so choose, but the President has other obligationsâ and leave it at that.
And Iraqi/Kurdish forces are massing to retake Mosul.
One of the stupidest questions yet. What in the hell was he supposed to do if he was in D.C.?
Well, we should be glad he did. Can you imagine if Cheney was actually president instead of just pulling the strings?
Kerry is right. The more that terrorists disrupt things in the United States or anywhere else is a sign of their being successful at what they want to do. There is no way terrorists can beat any country militarily so their goal is to disrupt normal life as much as possible. Pubbies are apparently too dumb to realize that giving in to terrorists is the same as letting terrorists win.
Good for you. I was in Charles de Gaulle long ago (the cool kids say âRoissyâ) waiting to come home and I read in a newspaper about the altitude bombing of UTA flight 772 a day or so before. UTA was a French carrier and it gave me a nasty few moments thinking about how I was getting ready to walk on a French plane myself, like maybe the terrorists needed another score to get it out of their systems. In case anyone is wondering, my plane remained unexploded and everything was fine. I strongly suspect youâll have a lovely time and for all we know some clown in a store two miles from your house will fumble with his pistol and negligently send a slug through the very space you might have been occupying if you werenât in Europe.
