Good question.It has been all over the national news and I assumed they were at least holding up places with guns. Then when I heard the details I couldnāt believe this got beyond being a local news story. Ridiculous. I actually feel kind of sorry for these two little dummies.

Exactly, commenterperson, why is this national ānewsā??? Of course, I asked myself the same thing yesterday seeing Mittens speculation as the page 1 lead story on CBS Evening News. Unlike Mittens we know these Kentucky kids arenāt buying the media timeā¦
Unlike the heartless media, Iāve been struck by the understanding comments made by the local Kentucky police officer involved in this case and appearing in the TV stories.
This story did not merit the national coverage it received. Iām dismayed to find it on TPM.
I was baffled this made the national news as well. In addition, the media nick-naming these lovebirds āBonnie & Clydeā was ridiculous. Writing bad checks vs. the numerous law enforcement officers killed by the real Bonnie & Clyde makes these two teenagers look like Laurel & Hardy.

Sounds like that other great romantic couple, Charlie Starkweather and Caril Anne Fugate, back in the Fifties. Ah, young love, raging emotion, throbbing hearts and loins. How sweet. Except of course for the eleven bodies Starkweather piled up across two states. Either way, the press loves this pigpile of morality theatre, high emotion, young sex, and young violence. So does Hollywood. And apparently so does the American people. Ah, to be young and in love and have a criminal heart. Family values, baby, family values.

Made several films about this misunderstood youth and his weltschmerz.
Story was that he was inspired by James Dean characters.

Likely the uniqueness of it. First of all they were in multiple states, so now itās a Federal thing as well. Plus him being 18 and her 13 makes it pretty big since in some of those states if they had sex this is rape. I canāt say the above are common together, so that is why itās big. Yes, if they were an 18 and 19 year old couple and did this in their hometown or home state, not a huge story.

Because of anything going on now gets known pretty quick that is why this is national news. Having said that, they are lucky they were white. I canāt help but wonder if they were black theyād have been shot dead. Just saying.
