Discussion: Kentucky Guv Begins Process Of Closing State's Obamacare Exchange

Discussion for article #244530

So, a pointless act that makes life a little bit more of a hassle for people who have used Kynect before.

So the anti federal government person wants to take away the state run thing and replace it with the federal thing?

That’s the whole point. Make life harder for those who have the least.

So long as the feds can secure all the plans currently offered through Kynect–with same fee structure–there shouldn’t be much of a problem for anyone except, perhaps, for the hassle of signing up through the feds’ Marketplace instead of Kynect.

What an asshole.

Wonder how much the HealthInsuranceExchange lobbyists are directing to Bevins’ future earnings?

He is just paying them back for all their help in getting elected.

WTF is with the headline?

This is transitioning from a State “exchange” to a Federally run “Obamacare” exchange. Very misleading headline.

So states rights mean the right to abdicate local control to federal. OK got it.

I suspect it’s because Kynect makes it easier for KYians to sign up for other government services as well. Oh, and it asks whether you’d like to register to vote. My understanding is that it was cost the state of KY $21 million to unwind Kynect…because we totally have that money lying around. Well, Louisville actually does, but enough of our money gets pilfered from us by the rednecks in this state.

F^ck it up at all Bevin – and you’ll be a one-termer.

AR Gov. Bill Clinton raised vehicle registration fees by about 50% in his first stint in the statehouse-- and he was unceremoniously dumped because of it. He managed to make a comeback after sitting out a term-- and we all know the rest of the story.

In his bio My Life (2004)-- Clinton said it was his biggest misgiving and biggest miscalculation.
That what he saw as such a small thing had such a huge effect on the lives of the impoverished in his state.

Bevin may well screw himself-- as WJC did.
Here’s hoping he can do so without causing too much havoc to the newly-insured in KY.

A nothing ‘dog and pony’ show for the mouthbreathing Baggers who put him in office. It makes life a bit more difficult for the most vulnerable and most helpless, so, in the best Republican tradition…fu*k em’!

BTW: I seem to remember the day after Bevins’ “upset” over Conway that a number of pundits pointed out the ‘peculiarity’ of Conway receiving tens of thousands of votes less than did several down ticket Democrats (Sec. of State, Atty.General…etc…) Seemed very odd. Was Conway that bad as a candidate? Disliked? Bad campaign? Kim Davis? Any follow up noted or needed?

Bang-on, Plucky. I bet that’s exactly it.

Kentuckians who acknowledged they desperately needed health insurance voted for him as a way of showing how much they hated Obama. This included so called Democrats, and if this isn’t the best example of voting against one’s interests I don’t know what is.
