“But Ma! They don’t really LIKE me all that much! The only reason they come around is because they like your apple pies!”

When they say “all expenses” does that include treatment costs for black lung?

He is just NOW thinking about creating enthusiasm and grass roots support? Let’s hope this is too little, too late for the turtle.

I would expect right wingers to be all up at arms since they are always accusing Democrats of paying for support but then I remember the golden rule: IOKIYAR.

The inability of Grimes’ people to draft even a simple statement that doesn’t sound like it was drafted by political consultants trying to Win the Day is her biggest problem. Not her failure to be sufficiently Democratic or her supposed failure to engage on the issues. Just the quality of the statements and talking points her people draft.

It’s not that hard. All you have to do is write a sentence that sounds like something a normal person might say instead of trying cram every single theme, meme, trope, buzzword or focus-group talking point from the campaign up to that moment into every single sentence as if that sentence was the last one you’ll ever get into the papers.

“Unlike Alison, Mitch McConnell has to pay people to clap for him. And apparently, he has to pay them a lot.”

“If Mitch McConnell was really serving Kentucky, he wouldn’t have to pay people to applaud his speeches when he comes home to campaign.”

“Mitch McConnell has to pay people to clap for him? Speaks for itself, doesn’t it?”

Oh brother. Really? So now the same people who’ve bought and paid for Mitch’s support for their interests are having to buy him some supporters?

It’s not that hard. Just talk normal, for gawd’s sake.

This is the one thing that drives me the most crazy about the Democratic political consultant class, generally. Thankfully, it’s a school of thought, born in the 90s, that’s aging out of the system, but it was the one worst thing about Hillary’s campaign, it hobbled Gore’s, it is my one real grievance with Nancy Pelosi.

The irony here is that Democrats do this because they rightly believe the so-called liberal media is inherently hostile to them but it’s the one thing guaranteed to turn the SCLM against them. They’ll eat that crap up like a a grad student at a free buffet when Republicans serve it, but it grates like nails on a chalkboard when Democrats do it.

But according to BillO, Republicans hate getting free stuff.

Looks like Mitch is trying to lock up the moocher vote.
It would serve him right if he winded up with 47 percent of the vote, like Mitt did.

In addition to all expenses paid, minority props will be paid a cash bonus for their participation. (limit 2 minorities per bus)

As I recall, the streets were packed for Commodus, too.

The irony is that buying friends (or votes) is supposed to apply only to Democrats (i.e. the Obamaphone). I love this and look forward to the McConnell campaign’s explanation of how this isn’t promoting government dependency.

They will just say McConnell is a “job creator”.

So what? When I worked for Obama there was food around the HQ all the time. Now, it’s true that when I went to Florida to work early voting in 2004 and 2008, I had to pay my own way, but if the party had wanted to reimburse me, I wouldn’t have thought there was anything wrong with that. It’s not like I wasn’t committed to the cause already.

Let’s not get down to the Republicans’ level.

…of the hand,blow,snow variety.

Lets convince some Gay, Black, Male, Muslims to apply and see if his campaign accepts them (and make sure you film the responses and post it.)
