Discussion for article #239840
Can this person be fired?
Davis has refused to issue marriage licenses, citing her Christian faith and constitutional right to religious liberty, despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling.
So basically she believes her rights trumps someone else’s even when the law is on their side. I know she’s an elected official, can we get that ball rolling to get her fired? She obviously has zero plans to quit.
OK… time to fire her or jail her for contempt… her job is to issue marriage licenses… that must pass for skilled labor in that part of Kentucky… her JOB does not require her approval of disapproval or participation in anyone’s marriage no matter what her over inflated opinion of herself is…
Martyr complex —
Well, at least the people of KY are putting their money where their mouth is… because the taxpayers are going to spend a fortune unsuccessfully defending this bigot’s actions in court and paying the settlement to the couple whose right they are denying.
Yes, that is the nub of the novel new 1st Amendment religious freedom theory being advanced by the likes of Jay Sekulow and 4 SCOTUS members are receptive.
I highly doubt she’d be fired over this if it is put to a popular vote in her Ky county (the electorate involved).
I think it’s far passed the time where a local or federal sheriff marches in there and makes arrests! I think the state of Kentucky is leaving itself wide open for a huge civil rights lawsuit by not doing more to remove this woman however it is legally possible, as otherwise they are complicit. Revolting.
Yep, she’s definitely going for test-case religious martyrdom.
I agree. This is pissing me off to no end. I’m getting so damn sick and tired of seeing her obnoxious face saying that she has her rights!..and no one else does.
She either goes to unemployment or to jail. Pick one and be gone already.
The LIberty gezus lawyers are going to get this dumbass jailed…
Apparently not. She appears to have the federal courts over a barrel.
Davis should be marched out of her office by federal officers like the common criminal she is.
Still defying court orders. This is going to get good. Could someone please pass the popcorn?
Not to mention being sued for damages by the people wanting licenses for any losses for cakes, venues, decorations, photographers. Heck, even the vendors should sue.
Fire the sanctimonious, self-righteous, law-breaking bitch.
It’s time for the show cause hearing. Maybe being found in contempt of court and jailed for an indeterminant period would enlighten her on her official duties.
Time for this gelatinous chunk of doody with legs to take a little vacation in the gray-bar hotel…
Criminal contempt, federal marshalls. For the whole office. I know some nice folks who live in Kentucky, so the Ripley Option doesn’t appeal so much.
This is what sedition looks like. (Also, waiting for the loons who decide that traffic tickets violate their constitutional right to travel.)
I’m tired of this sow.
