No no no don’t be outing pokey! He’ll get a billionaire to back him (not Trump, a real billionaire) and sue TPM back to the Stone Age! You have to understand his routine—he’s a Trump supporter and will admit it if you grab him and give him enough noogies, but most of the time he’s a Trump supporter on the down low, so to speak. So he just comes around criticizing anyone who criticizes Trump, without mentioning the Trump-love part of it. Shhhhh!!! That’s about half secret!!! The particularly cute part of it is pokey’s criticisms are always based on very very liberal ideas because that’s going to fool us all into HATING Ken Burns or whomever pokey has in his sights that day. Liberals are dumb and easy to fool, thinks pokey. If America discriminated against the Chinese immigrants then Ken Burns is WRONG about Donald Trump for reasons you’d have to get pokey to explain. Or maybe pokey will see this and get mad and explain himself! Anyway pokey you carry on with your little Jekyll and Hyde routine because NOBODY SUSPECTS A THING.

Ken, you could do a 2 minute ad on how corrupt, dishonest, racist, and mentally ill trump is and do the country a service.

That would be an excellent contrast to Drumpf propos, a.k.a. the Two Minutes Hate.

I find myself wishing that the non-voters of 2010 had not done such a good job of sabotage. Maybe then the better probabilities of Democrats taking back the House would change the “deaf ears” of GOP Congressmen.

Ken Burns’ speech needs to be heard by everyone! No doubt there will be many Trump lemmings and those who disparage everything America is about who will not listen or care, but there are also many for whom Burns’ articulate and knowledgeable argument will open doors to understanding why this election is so important and why Trump must never be allowed to become President. It may even influence some Republican politicians . . . but I am not too hopeful ofthat.

Bravo Ken!

The folks we refer to as “states(wo)men” throughout history have been those who sought to elevate our higher natures and quell the baser instincts in society. The GOP, starting with Lee Atwater and up through the current campaigns, sought to harness those baser instincts as a path to power, and we now see the results of that misguided strategy.

Ken Burns nailed it in his speech. In spite of his dorky haircut, I love the man’s works and words.

Trump isn’t to be despised because he disregards the truth. Trump is to be despised because he seeks to create a conservative-friendly universe of (non) fact that is truly harmful to all.

There’s not a corner of the earth that has been affected by our rapacious greed and lust for power. When those effects come back to haunt us, our feckless politicians are quick to condemn other countries rather than look to our own behavior, not only because it serves their interests in maintaining power, but also because they are incapable of seeing the larger picture.

The country was all that and worse, but it also carried the seed to much better and higher aspirations. Such was always the founding paradox with the United States.

In Trump we have somebody who doesn’t even give lip service to any higher ideals. His mind lives in the gutter of half formed ideas. He revels in it, and wants to pull down the entire country to his comfort place of maleficence and tacky chic.

As an historical matter, and I wish Ken Burns had said it, is that Trump’s success especially with Evangelicals proves is that the word “VALUES” in front of the word “VOTER” is and has always been code for RACE.
