It’s debatable. There are technicalities at play that Conway and Katyal just sort of brushed aside in order to make a more philosophical point.
Of course it’s debatable. But Mueller plays by the rules. I find it difficult to imagine that he be happy to take direction from a superior of debatable authority. Debatable is good enough for him to tell Whitaker to get his authority confirmed, either by the Court or the Senate.
I think their good cop/bad cop act is all a sham. Both Conways supported Cruz and vehemently opposed trump before the nomination. Kellyanne saw an opportunity to grab the coattails of power and lied her way into it, deleting her entire past anti-trump social media history. Like a snotty white supremacist flashing the WP hand signal in a public photo, she’s doing it for the lulz. And I’m sure it gives her a visibility boost she will capitalize on later.
I imagine them going home and having a raucous laugh over the stupid shit trump did that day.
Or, in light of Whitaker’s links to Clovis and so on, the SCO could just subpoena him to testify tomorrow!
Of course they completely forgot the First Rule of Politics: IOKIYAR. And nobody will hold Trump accountable. The Senate Majority Leader certainly knows the First Rule of Politics, and the courts won’t touch it with a 10 foot pole, because of separation of powers. Our only remedy is to start the 2020 campaign right now. First order of business: END VOTER SUPPRESSION.
Yes.
“I’m sorry, Mr Whitaker, but your authority is debatable. Meanwhile here’s a subpoena. Not debatable.”
There can be no purpose having Whitaker in there other than to obstruct justice.
I’ll bet they are. One of the things that’s the most discordant about Kellyanne is that she doesn’t strike me as a Trump true believer – it’s more “just a job” to her. Like being a relentlessly positive product spokesperson for a brand of shampoo the spokesperson doesn’t actually like. I could certainly be wrong, but her unfailingly pleasant-while-simultaneously-ridiculous pronouncements have always struck me that way. It’s just a straight-up P.R. gig.
I’m not sure if that makes her better than a true believer, or worse. I think maybe worse.
Totally agree. Firing Sessions and then replacing him with Whitaker is just straight up obstruction of justice. There’s been so much of that now though it’s hard to land on just one obstruction. It’s all part of the bigger attempt to make Mueller go away.
And for the FTC to close down a company in this business-friendly, market-worshiping era, it must be REALLY scammy.
If they’re laughing, then they’re more depraved than I could ever imagine.
Gee, why has the GOP packed the Supreme Court by hook or by crook?
Here’s the Rawstory article about this…

Kellyanne Conway’s husband: Trump’s appointment of Matthew Whitaker is unconstitutional
the screen grab is brutal
Would anyone serving as an “acting” AG not be obliged to act only in a caretaker role and only participate in administrative tasks? Someone not approved by the Senate should not be involved in decision making…
If she’s not a true believer, then she puts to shame all the hired guns I’ve ever heard of.
Idk, Kellyanne has been a major Mercer monied Tea Party stooge for years now. She was fully on board with Cruz’s campaign prior to him losing nomination. Her husband has known who he was married to and I believe been involved in the same politics for years. My guess…
This is how they think they’ll still get invited to fancy dinner parties.
In trumpworld, you need to take hallucinogens to expand the limits of your imagination, because they have broken everything that was once normal.
O my god you weren’t kidding.
I wonder if she has a clue how she looks when she does that.
