You know, I’ve spoken and read the English language for a while now and I’ve noticed that what with idioms and so forth there’s a certain ambiguity here and there. Like the literal meaning of “not forever” as in not for the duration of the universe versus the connotation the phrase has which is ending at some indeterminate but not-long-from-now time, that’s the kind of ambiguity you see. I understand this is a responsible person trying to clean up after a sadistic buffoon but JFC that is just bullshit.
Of course it’s “accurate” But that’s not what Trump meant. He is threatening to pull the support. they’ve only been there two weeks. The tweet makes it sounds like two years.
Well, no shit FEMA isn’t going to be there forever. It’s just intellectual dishonesty to respond to the hyperbolic part that is obviously true without actually responding to the substance of what was meant.
And Donnie will continue to remind them of the debt that they’re causing.
What a guy.
Trump was just joking. Har.
Har.
Har.
That’s a nice big broom you have there, General Kelly. It’s so much easier to sweep up elephant poop with it.
White House staff is always having to turn around in the middle of their morning commute when it occurs to them they left their shovel on the dining room table again.
The fact that the president is even discussing withdrawing FEMA while 90% of the island still lacks electricity is extremely worrying. The fact that he’d even talk about punishing and abandoning 3 million Americans because someone said something he doesn’t like is just crazy making. That Kelly, for even a second, defended this behavior by engaging in this kind of obvious intellectual dishonesty reveals he’s not much better than the sociopath he serves.
A better question is: how many of us require at least a dozen full time caretakers to explain what we meant?
How many of us require a full-time care-taker to explain to the world what we meant to say?
Exactly. But I also wonder if he’s trying to prevent a complete meltdown by the Moron in Chief.
Everyone saw this coming. We were pre-worried already.
Spot on Plucky! Kelly’s defense of this tweet and willful misreading of it was infuriating, particularly since it comes from the supposed Oval caretaker.
I was too. I guess my point is that he can’t even just STFU and let FEMA do their thing. He has to threaten disaster victims just to make himself feel better. There’s just nothing or no one off limits.
Tiptoeing around Trump’s insanity.
Not diminishing your point at all, but i’ll find it extremely satisfying when Elon Musk, a South African immigrant to the US, rebuilds Puerto Rico’s electrical grid and loses no money doing it. Dotard Donald is proving he’s mentally incapable of performing any necessary executive action that actually helps people. He needs immigrants to do that job on behalf of the United States for him.
Trump’s lack of empathy is bad when it comes to natural disaster relief, but nightmarish given the looming possibility of large military conflicts.
When the President told you he hoped your grandmother in the hospital fucking died already so he wouldnt have to pay a cent more of taxpayer money for her care, well, he was merely stating, accurately, the fact that everyone dies eventually, and that when we die, we no longer generate hospital care expenses. The President was absolutely accurate. And along with Paul Ryan, I will continue to put a brave face on the fact that we have an unqualified asshole as a President and that he is resistant to remedial instruction on how to minimally act or appear to be competent or worthy of his office.
Exactly. What a POS.
So they’re persisting* until every single resident is alienated? Every vote lost(among those who have or will have votes)?Every activist activated?'Til every ad has written itself?
Works for me.
*-nice word, that.
