Well, this is quite a “publicly open” racist statement. To me, it’s worse coming from Kelly than the President because Kelly is the more intelligent of the two. I’m not a fan of expanded military budgets, but I have always respected those who dedicate their lives to serving. No more. I despise John Kelly and everything he obviously stands for.

Just saw the Yahoo homepage had the headline that “Dreamers get assurances on deportation” and quoted Kelly saying that nobody cares more about DACA than Trump. It’s like words are the only thing that matters and we aren’t allowed to look at Trump’s history of broken promises and empty assurances to realize how cheap their words are.
This is why we can’t have nice things: When half the media is part of the Republican propaganda machine and the legit media insists on meeting them halfway.

OMG. Going to traffic court in Chicago is considered, if not a badge of honor, at least a right of passage. I missed this in the Tribune but it’s a frightening omen of things to come for the undocumented.

The ascendance of Kelly is telling. Not the person per se, but like in Russia around 2013 there was this rise of the “power ministries”, defense, energy, etc. and the neglect of foreign ministry and global finance. Looking through this lens at the Trump administration, I get the impression that our siloviki have also pulled off a coup. The state department languishes while Trump can’t say enough about “rebuilding” our military (and even getting more nukes), not to mention the joys of carbon combustion.

Based on my experience in the military, I don’t think it is all that surprising. However, I do think it is surprising for someone who rose to such a high rank to be so openly disdainful of others.

There certainly are racists in the Marines, but the official policy long ago, as stated by one of my Drill Instructors, was that the all Marines were green (the color of the uniform in those days) regardless of skin color.

I saw the Vale tweet on Josh’s feed, but i know of at least one case, where a dreamer was detained after testifying.
The current problem is that folks are either forgetting these instances or they are getting the Fox News version of DACA.

Is General Kelly REALLY this stupid? I always thought that to rise in rank you had to have at least some smarts. Some probably were too lazy to file… but most probably didn’t have the spare $465 to file the application.

The title “Chief of Staff” should revert back to “Scheduling Secretary” and maybe Kelly would think it beneath him. Proof even military commanders can be assholes. He removes doubt the WH is stuffed wth White Nationalists and racists. He embarrasses the Irish. I’m glad I also have Welsh blood.

On another matter, sone high level WH spokespeople were too fucking stupid to understsnd civility, policy and protocol…not sure which group could reasonably be accused of indolence.

I just wanna say I had this guy’s number from the beginning. Never did I believe he was the adult in the room. He’s as racist and as bigoted as tRump. They have that special bond in common. His attitude when he oversaw Homeland Security showed his utter contempt for immigrants way before he got his new gig at the White House. Fuck this guy. He’s an arrogant pig.
