I do love me some Fox-Personality-on-Fox-Personality trolling.
Kelly’s trolling, though, makes a salient point: Whatever one may think about what behaviors are/are not “appropriate,” the fact remains that many millions of people are living their lives in these ways. Wistful nostalgia for a simpler time when gender roles were more clearly defined is not and won’t be an effective politics, and Huckabee and the GOP more generally have to acknowledge that in some way.

This is part of the problem Mike, you just don’t want to hear about it. Whatever “it” is, you live in a pretend world of your own making, where you’re the master of your domain. And isn’t that the way God* said it should be? Or at least that’s what you heard.

I could see this man raping and battering women who cross him and saying they deserved it…even wanted it. He’s exhibiting classic antisocial behavior.
Actually, I’m surprised that the GOP hasn’t gone after the Republican women in the House for making Boehner alter their abortion bill. I suppose they are lying in wait and will attack when they think nobody can catch them doing it.

If Kelly is going to push back on one of her guests, its always going to be about how they speak/treat women. I believe she thinks she is changing the beast from within or something. It’s sort of becoming her “thing”.

Moreover, the idea that there actually was some “simpler time when gender roles were more clearly defined,” when women–very good women, too–didn’t speak the vernacular or enjoy sex [1] is credible only to simpletons like Huckabee (or more specifically, his incredibly sheltered base).
There’s never been a time when that was true. These people think that “Leave It to Beaver” was a documentary.
Also: every time this douchebag talks about “morality,” it’s always about micromanaging women’s sex lives or how we express ourselves.
Have you ever seen him get outraged over a real moral failing? Did he ever say anything about Cheney’s advocacy of torture? About his party’s policies of abusing the poor? About invading Iraq–hundreds of thousands of people dead, more than a million people displaced, an entire region destabilized, and a blot on our national honor that will be there for decades, just to make a few rich people richer?
Has he ever spoken out about lying, violence, cruelty?
Nope–just sex. And now–just to show how well-rounded he is–cursing.
He simply has no moral spine, for all his talk about it.
He’s one of those people you see on the religious Right who have obliterated every sense of right-and-wrong and can now feel outrage only for breaches of the idea that sex is for repro only.
It’s not morality–it’s a morality substitute.
[1] Bear in mind that some poor woman is actually married to this guy.
