Discussion: Kavanaugh Wrongly Claims Repeatedly That He Could Drink Legally In Maryland

IMO we are “settling for half a loaf” because of white male republican senators who are misogynist, with the possible exception of Sen Flake, who are scared of losing power to women. I agree with Stephen King, “Fear is the root of all evil”.

Well, let’s hope this Flake delay is fruitful. Nothing else to do now. I still think an opportunity to end this yesterday was missed. But what the hell do I know?

Speaking as someone who is (plus or minus) the same age as Mr Kavanaugh, I would suspect that he was using the beer he was drinking while under age to cleanse his palate in between bong hits…

I might speculate that other controlled substances were available at the Yale Frat parties he attended beyond High School…

Not quite sure yet…

Personally, I was taken aback by Kavanaugh’s “presentation” at the hearing. This was not what I would have thought of as a mature and stable future Justice of SCOTUS. He came across more as a somewhat disturbed, even vicious, a 50+ year-old teenager with a chip-on-his-shoulder, annoyed at the bad hand which life was dealing him and longing to be back in the good old days when he was number one in school, a heroic sportsman, and a guy who loved being with the other boys, drinking his beer, swearing, belching, and keeping score of who was gaining bragging rights abut “getting” - i.e. having sex with - the sexiest girls from nearby Catholic elite girls’ schools. This person seemed to me as high on something, drugs of some sort. Perhaps an expert in such things might have a more precise opinion about this, however.

Kavanaugh’s record as a judge and as an author of judicial “theories,” sets off all sorts of warning lights. After these hearings, I would hope very much that he will not manage to get appointed to SCOTUS. There is/are already one or two problem cases there. What a shame that the Republicans did such an injustice to Merrick Garland. He would have made a balanced and an intellectually ideal justice of proven superiority. Too bad that the Republicans, under McConnell have reached such depths of unAmerican and brutality.
