Discussion: Kavanaugh Racked Up Debt From Buying An Abundance Of Nat's Tickets

“Kavanaugh’s friends reimbursed him for the tickets“

Oh? Which “friends” might those be? And what are his “friends” going to get in return once he’s on the court?

And why didn’t he up his price to Super Bowl tickets at least? Think bigly, yer honner.

If he immediately appealed to Dotard as his GOPTUS nominee, it is logical to assume that Kavanaugh is also a cheap grifter.

Honestly, this is the least of my concerns over his nomination.

This TPM article is missing the most critical statement from the wapo article:

Kavanaugh’s most recent financial disclosure forms reveal reportable assets between $15,000 and $65,000

I read it through several times, and the article makes it very clear that besides his house and his retirement account, that <$65000 is the only other asset he claims to own. That’s just nuts. A 53-year old who has been earning north of $200k for the past couple decades hasn’t managed to accumulate more than $65,000 in assets?

My family earns a small fraction of $200K per year and i’m younger than 53, but you better believe we have more than $65,000. Our kids college savings is more than that, to give just one example.

…this is in part due to his longevity in the public sector…

But mostly it’s due to his stupidity and lack of understanding about actions having consequences. What a fine judicial mind!

So, the nominee is a ticket scalper?

And if he gets on the court, his net worth will mysteriously skyrocket!

Kavanaugh has since stopped purchasing season ticket packages.

That’s going to put a dent in the Nationals’ finances.

$65,000 in liquid assets.
$200,000 in credit card debt + other loans.

How does anyone get a credit line that large on a judge’s salary?
Does he have a mortgage on the house too?
What kind of debt service does he have?

This looks very strange.
3 credit cards gives him an average “utilized” credit line on each of $66,666.

Doesn’t applying for multiple cards essentially “backed/collateralized” by the same salary and assets constitute fraud?

This looks similar to going to 3 different banks to get 3 mortgages on 1 house.

So, the nominee is a ticket scalper?

I have a friend who used to buy concert tickets (back in the days when you actually had to stand in line!), then advertise "1 stick of chewing gum, $250. Includes 2 tickets to (popular band then touring).

Kavanaugh didn’t even have to buy the gum.

Welcome to the microscope Kavanaugh
I’m sure the Trumps gave you the same careful and detailed vetting as all the other White House employees

Yeah, my first thought as well was “just who were these friends who paid him tens of thousands of dollars?” Wonder if any paid him in rubles…

Appeals Court judges make $220K a year, and his wife is town manager of Chevy Chase. That puts the family income at least in the $300s. That puts them in the top couple percent for household income. For someone like that to have a lot of credit card debt and no assets is a sign of something wrong. Journalists! There’s blood in the water!

Of course. He was going in debt over baseball, like a good family man, not like he was spending it on strippers and booze.

I have the feeling that Kavanaugh is going to be a juncket loving Justice, in bed with corporate interests. He is going to make Pruitt like honest guy.
