Discussion: Kavanaugh: My Past Comments On SCOTUS Watergate Tapes Ruling Were 'Mischaracterized'

How? With a super-sized, industrial forklift?

Using little girls as props is low.

He took a tip from Judge Roy Moore.

That’s the next step after Roe V. Wade overturn, restricted access to contraception.

ETA. Except for more well-off white women.

You know it.

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. It’s like when he was asked if he was involved in coaching a nominee for a judgeship and he answered “No.” A gross “mischaracterization” arose only after it was revealed he, in fact, had done precisely that, and people proceeded to mischaracterize his answer as meaning “No,” which would mean he lied.

He would never do that. Ever. He’s a girls basketball coach, fer chris’sake.

Defining the connotative meanings of words is a very tricky business.

I don’t see how the SCOTUS can accomplish that and we’re going to be running Congress.

Again, however, I will just point out that W’s Congress’s Conscience Laws have already made it difficult to get Plan B in some drugstores in some states.

It’s not as if they haven’t already gutted our rights completely. Overturning Roe may well be more trouble than it’s worth under the circumstances. However, if it goes, then the goddamn anti-woman Crusade dies with it - they’ll go out of business. I’m down for that.

Naw. That’s when the “immodest dress” statutes will get proposed. Then there’s anti-miscegenation laws and so forth.

If there is one thing the Guardians Of Pedophiles know it’s morality.

No I really don’t think they can finance their lifestyles on anything other than dead babies. Most Baptists and other Evangelicals don’t give a shit about much of anything else - they all have differing opinions and theologies. It’s only dead babies that bring in the millions of dollars to that Crusade.

I gotta say – the Donald is really not looking good these days.

BK seems to retreat often to a defense of “I’m playing 12-dimensional chess, and your tiny minds cannot possibly comprehend my many layers.”

The truth seems a fair piece more prosaic there, Brett.

I guess I’m always a little dubious when you ask someone what he or she meant in saying this awkward thing and the answer is it was meant rhetorically and the actual meaning was the literal opposite of what was actually said.

Kavanaugh reminds me of the anonymous editorial author. He’s a coward and enabler who hangs in there for ideological “successes”. My bet is that, if he’s as devout a Catholic and as good a guy, as his publicists claim, he must personally find Trump an amoral abomination of a man. He’s about “success” in spite of Trump. So sure, shower Trump with praise and shine on shinola, coz it’s for the “greater good.” I can’t refuse this opportunity and not accept the nomination coz God set this up just for me.

It’s the same mechanism that produces “it was a joke!” when caught out racisting.

Or “They’re just notes for a novel!” when the plans to kill your spouse come to light.

Right…and I’ve had almost 30 years to rethink this!

It’s really simple, people. He just forgot to add the " 'nt " onto whatever he said. Please refer to the Trump style guide for clarification.

Yeah, but they get to see Kamala Harris in action, and that might inspire one or two of 'em.
