Discussion: Kavanaugh Lawyers Up

Smart move, proves he is innocent !

Woman lawyer - even smarter!

(Just don’t go into a conference room alone with him, ma’am.)

Renato Mariotti suggests this could be about lying to Congress.

Golly, a female lawyer! What an advocate for women! Certainly that proves his innocence.

Always a good idea for perjurers to hire a lawyer!

For what he has already lied about, or what he plans to lie about if he is called to testify more?

For those who may not know, Beth Wilkinson is high powered Washington lawyer who is a big time Democratic contributor (strange isn’t it, Republicans accused of sexual misconduct go and hire Democratic women lawyers). She represented several Clinton aides caught up in the email investigation. She got the judge to approve a joint defense where she represented all of them jointly thereby foreclosing any possibility of the aides turning on each other.
Oh, and she is married to David Gregory. Yes, that “Dancing Dave” of MTP.

It isn’t likely that the sexual assault would be prosecuted, at least not without more evidence, but it’s not impossible. The facts as stated could support a charge of sexual assault in the third degree, which is a felony. As far as i can tell, there is no statute of limitations in Maryland for felony sexual assault.

But I agree the more likely reason for hiring a lawyer is the risk of being prosecuted for lying to Congress.

When all this is over I’m not sure Kavanaugh will be a judge any more.

I’m still thinking that his likelihood of confirmation is over 90%, but I would have put it at 99% last week.

He has definitely been softened up, but I just don’t know what info is out there that could knock him out of contention.

I did read a piece by a former clerk for Judge Kozinski that spoke of a way in which it might be possible to confirm that Kavanaugh was on Kozinski’s email “Easy Rider Gag List.” Kavanaugh’s presence on that list would provide some evidence that he was lying about his knowledge of Kozinski’s love of sharing inappropriate materials with his staff. Even that, though, just looks to me like a chink in the armor, not a killing blow.

Yeah, it would be more accurate to say that if not confirmed, I’m not sure Kavanaugh will be a judge anywhere any more.

Of course, it’s about perjury. Brett has to be careful now.

Ruh roh…

So the Kaveman-augh senses danger? Lighting signal fires?

I think he’s finally seeing the real writing on the wall. He got in bed with Trump (ew, sorry for that metaphor). His nomination is failing, and he’ll be facing legal charges of lying to congress, and possible impeachment soon after. No presidential pardons for any of that, eh?

Yeah, Ruhhhhhh roh!

Does this mean he’s going to have to sell his baseball season tickets?

Or is Bill Cosby going to fund this?
