Well, since it apparently takes the typical American voter the actual experience of LOSING something (e.g., healthcare, clean air, soon-to-be legal abortions, etc.) then perhaps we will see them supporting two additional justices when the time comes. And it will come soon - in 2020. Can’t wait for the Republican screeching about norms and rules.

Kavanaugh is a lying snake who will say anything to achieve his judicial goals. He has proven himself to be a rabid ideologue and an unreliable ally of the truth.

If women had EVER decided to support Roe v. Wade you’d never know it from the majority of Republicans in the Congress and White House, all there with plenty of support from women.

Now’s the time I guess…or perhaps it’s already too late.

I’m still so superfly-fucking pissed about the Garland/Gorsuch switcheroo, that this Republican cockhorse carousel rolling out of the Kavanaugh nomination makes me want to manually insert a bullet into my brain. I don’t care what it takes, but if/when the Dems get back the magic levers of power, they had better stand the fuck up and obliterate the judiciary bums rush foisted upon the country these past two years. If Trump goes down, bigly, then impeach them as illegitimate. If the votes aren’t there, then stack the bench to high hell. I will not tolerate letting bygones be bygones anymore. Fuck decorum, fuck tradition, and use power as a blunt force instrument, otherwise the Rethugs will continue to use it against us. I’m so sick of the Democrats being the party that cleans up the Republican Augean Stables since 1976, only to get us back to status quo in order to get voted out so the country can backslide yet again. This one step forward two steps back electric slide has been going on for my whole fucking life.

I’m with you, staggerlee. I cannot get past the Garland/Gorsuch/Kavanaugh disaster; it burns like nothing else for me. Even as a news junkie, I may have to skip the nauseating hypocrisy and mealy-mouth lies this week for the sake of my health.

In my thinking on this, while it is an enormous bulwark for reproductive rights, Roe also allows us to gloss over the actual problem.

And is the same problem which animates laws prohibiting contraceptives and homosexuality. (And teaching evolution, among other things …)

That is, putting religious beliefs into civil law, I believe, in violation of the Establishment Clause.

Exactly! Stalling as long as you can as the 17 year old creeped closer to the 20-week restriction Is not acting as an impartial umpire. It’s the act of a sneak, the whole plausible deniability schtick. Kavanaugh was overruled and then he screeched about the decision. An audition for a SCOTUS-let’s-get-rid-of-Roe nod?

Cornyn is now describing the pushback as a ‘mob rule’ session. Republicans are perilously close to spontaneous combustion, en masse. Which would be well-deserved.
