Kavanaugh committee vote still on for Thursday…

So Senate Republicans would like to believe. I have a feeling this strategy won’t play well for them, though. We’ll see soon enough.

There are 13 Circuit Courts of Appeal in the US.

I think it’s time that we expanded the Supreme Court to 13 justices. It’s very clear from the Constitution that the concept was “One District, One Justice.” Let’s get Spankee out of the way and a solid Democratic President and Congress and do this thing.

Once a masher like Trump, always a pervert who will end up humiliating the high court and hurt its credibility as other victims come forward. This guy has all the morals of a Russian Mafia political operative. When we heard about the gambling and credit problems, it was just a matter of time before his other issues would surface. Kavanaugh has a self-righteous attitude the goes with those who enjoy trying to control others.

If Kavanaugh truly is a groping pervert, then the GOP has yet another rising star.

Presidential timber?

So much for:

“No president has ever consulted more widely, or talked with more people from more backgrounds, to seek input about a Supreme Court nomination,” Kavanaugh said.

Like Marshall said, this party will crawl over broken glass to nominate Kavanaugh because it’s not about him, it’s about stacking SCOTUS and wishfully ushering in conservative dominance of the courts. They are finally on the cusp of it and the only thing that would derail it is if suddenly half the GOP senators died of massive heart attacks. The best bet to course correct is having the next Dem president and administration enact a mass purge of conservative judges, open up impeachment proceedings against Kavanaugh for committing perjury, and end lifetime SCOTUS appointments.

Ol’ Smiley went to Snarly real quick. This accusation obviously hit a neve.

Not shocking in light of everything else running from our sewers into the swamp these days.

But a phrase I first heard used in my time in Vietnam echoes in my brain. Goes something like this…

"Payback’s a Bitch"

Grassley and McConnell will be dead and gone, likely me also… but there will be payback.

It’s disturbing because of the content, not the timing.

The route to stopping Kavanaugh isn’t to get Trump to withdraw the nomination. It is to get a few Republicans to vote no, to say ‘enough’. And maybe Kavanaugh will decide to withdraw to spare his family and the girls he coaches further embarrassment. (Although Justice Thomas and his prep school buddy Cashman can help him get through that one.)

My thought also. Roosevelt tried this but was thwarted. Should Dems take both houses they should at least explore expanding the court to eleven. And after codifying it re-instate a 60 vote requirement, permanently, along with the filibuster.

Brett Kavanaugh = The white Clarence Thomas

And who says the GOP isn’t perverse, I mean, diverse?..

The allegation itself wasn’t called disturbing. Chairman Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) statement used another word for it: “Uncorroborated.”

Actually, it’s the serial liar Kavanaugh’s adamant, categorical denials that are uncorroborated.

(The Republicans’ claims to actually doing the job of elected representatives of the people are also uncorroborated.)

“If somebody can be brought down by accusations like this, then you, me, every man certainly should be worried,” the unnamed lawyer said. “We can all be accused of something.”

This bothers me greatly tho’ - I’m not sure exactly what it is. This idea that no matter what a man has done, even if it can be proven, it doesn’t matter. Won’t matter because events have been set in motion and guilt is just an ancillary issue. Rape, pedophilia, murder - doesn’t matter. According to this sc*mbag, whatever the GOP needs to do will be done.

ETA: @leftcoaster And what you point out is what I was getting at: that immorality is no longer any impediment to getting what the Rethugs want. There’s really no line in the sand that they draw where they wont go beyond to get what they want.

It should not be up to Collins or Murkowski to delay this vote. This is ridiculous. Senators with any sense of morality should demand that the committee delay the vote and call for further investigation. Hey Senators -ask your wives, girlfriends, and daughters.

“It raises a lot of questions about Democrats’ tactics and motives"

Let me help you out with that Mr. Grassley: “[The president] . . . shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint . . . judges of the Supreme Court.” You know, that thing you took an oath to support and defend.

“Uncorroborated.”

If you took your Constitutional responsibility to provide advice and consent seriously you would take the time to corroborate or disprove the allegation.

Not so much. You do understand the constitutional barriers in place to prevent all this without controlling 2/3+1 of the Senate as a minimum for this mass purge/impeachment, and the barriers to amending the constitution to end lifetime appointments, right?

Wonder how long Collins and Murkowski can keep their fingers lodged in the ears? Gotta be uncomfortable

Flake opposes any vote now, before a thorough airing. Inconceivable that Collins would vote to go forward, with Flake’s opposition. Flake’s vote would give the Democratic opposition a majority on the committee.
