Discussion for article #240750
Wow. A congressman, AND governor and you still donât know when to STOP TALKING!
And to think I was starting to get worried about this guy!
I Have âGreat Respectâ For Hispanics
left unsaid⌠they know their place and they make great maids, babysitters and gardenersâŚ
Kasich has great respect for HispanicsâŚabout as much respect as he has for everyone else. Which is about as much as one can fit in half a teaspoon.
Iâve discovered that itâs not just Chris Christie that makes me rather hug a burlap sack full of wet pig shit.
Maybe even this:
âThey are impactful in so many ways. As you know my plan on immigration
is intended to keep families together and give them a good place in
American society,â he continued.
TRANSLATION: I will create legislation that will have them stay here as second class citizens allowed only to pick crops in the field and tend to the needs of wealthy White people.
âI have great respect for Hispanicsâ, said Kasich, right before handing Jorge Ramos a twenty dollar bill and telling him, âNow go and trim my fucking hedges, Paco.â
Oh come on people. You are trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. If you are so invested in your hate for anything a Republican says, then you are no better that the people on the other side who feel the same way about you. The people who are in the middle wonât be able to see any difference between the intransigence of the right and the intransigence of the left. Do we want them to have to decide which intransigent set of people they have to vote for?
Next: Kasichâs grip nâ grin selfie with local I-Hop busboy.
Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Sunday that he had âgreat respectâ for Hispanics.
Is everybody in the GOP quoting Trump, now? Be original for chrys-sake.
I donât think he was being mean-spirited, he was just being condescending.
In his mind he was praising Hispanics: see some of them are good people who know how to serve.
I beg your pardon - it is not intransigent to call out a candidate for President (or any office holder) for stereotyping and demeaning a large section of the electorate based on ethnicity. It is American, it is constitutional, it is decent - but not a molehill - to expect better.
Yes indeed !
I think we can infer from all this Hispanic love that Hispanics are becoming important people. The GOP has a tough gig cleaning up all the crap they threw at them when they thought otherwise. This effort by Kasich isnât going to cut it.
Speaking Spanish isnât going to do it. I speak it and my Hispanic wife doesnât hesitate to tell me to fuck off in it. Patronizing them sure as hell isnât going to get it done either. They arenât stupid. At times I have 20 to 30 Hispanics in my home and if that small sampleâs sentiments are indicative of where the GOP stands with them GOPâers have a very long way to go.
"This lady wrote me in my hotel there in L.A. She wrote this note. It said, 'I really want you to know that I care about your stay.' Is that just the greatest thing?" Kasich said at a luncheon Thursday. "So, you know, we can learn a lot and she's Hispanic, 'cause I didn't know it at the time, but I met her in the hallway, asked her if I could get a little more soap."
Seriously?? This is your example of how you value Hispanic culture? This is customer service 101. Thatâs all it is. And you engaged only for a bar of soap! This is not a meaningful interaction in any sense. Just how many Hispanics do you even know?? Next weâll here how industrious the black folk are because they give great shoeshines. Sheesh. This is the sane guy running!
I have great respect for them. I think they're an important fabric of America."
As long as theyâre bent over and cleaning my toilet" â (fixed it)
Heh⌠my Mexican-American wife doesnât speak Spanish and neither do I, but that doesnât keep her from telling me to fuck off in fluent American sarcasm.
But I can also attest to the fact that all of her relativesâmost of whom are pretty non-political otherwiseâdespise Trump and the GOP in general with a healthy enthusiasm.
They are impactful in so many ways.
Iâm not Hispanic, so this is just so many words to me, but Hispanics must be feeling the deep and abiding affection Kasich packs into that phrase.
