The Governor is too busy depriving women of their reproductive rights to worry much about gays.
Profiles in Courage.
Gutted Planned Parenthood in his state.
“When it comes to curbing abortion access and funding for Planned
Parenthood, John Kasich has been one of the most effective leaders in
the country. The Ohio governor, however, does not like to play up
divisive social issues, particularly on the 2016 campaign trail, where
he’s preferred to paint a warm and fuzzy vision of the future of
America.”
Now that you mention it, why does government put gender on a birth certificate?
So it can discriminate?
This guy comes across as reasonable to the casual viewer. He’s the candidate HRC should be concerned with.
No, there are many good reasons. Selective service, life span (for Social Security planning), crime demographics. Obviously, males and females are not the same. Equality means equality under the law. Don’t be so cynical.
As an Ohioan I can “probably” say that he WOULD sign it. He is seen as “reasonable” or “moderate” only because the other two are batsh!t crazy. He is as RWNJ as any GOTPer.
And the minute we start trying to write laws, things become more polarized, they become more complicated.
Yeah John, like you you and your friends in the Legislature wrote and signed SB5, banning collective bargaining for public-sector employees, or when you tried to selectively change early voting in some counties, or consolidated polling places while restricting poll workers from directing voters to the right precinct in those polling places AND changing how votes casted at the wrong precinct are counted. Then there’s your chickenshit assault on Planned Parenthood and your disgraceful silence on African Americans killed by Police just for having a gun in an Open Carry State. Lastly, you really divided people in your state when you requested SNAP extensions for rural Ohio counties, while ignoring Ohio’s urban counties. Kasich, nothing is more divisive than hunger.
Obviously I don’t want to force people to violate their deeply held religious convictions, but we’d have to see what that’s all about."
Nice way of leaving the door open to future consideration of such a law. Kasich is tRump and Cruz, but more polished. Indiana borders Ohio, so Kasich knows the hows and whys for religious freedom laws, and his point about deeply-held religious convictions allows him to split hairs on the issue. What a turd!!
“Kasich ‘Probably’ Would Not Have Signed NC Anti-LGBT Law”
Wow, folks. That’s real leadership right there!
Kasich: ‘Probably’ Would Not Have Signed NC Anti-LGBT Law
FOX: Why not? Aren’t you a conservative?
Kasich: It doesn’t go far enough for me. LGBT belongs in mental institution along with women who want or have had an abortion.
Right. Except when it comes to ladyparts. THEN by GOD, you’re gonna legislate.
One bog caveat: Unless the Koch brothers tell him to sign it. Then of course Kasich will bow down like all good Republicans and sign it.
It is imperative to keep a divided populous otherwise the Koch’s and the Republican robber barons will lose their hold and ability to totally exploit the bottom 90%.
The Republicans don’t care about the so called family values and the scriptures - that is a smoke screen. They only want to keep the people divided and hating between groups. They are winning because people are falling for it.
Way to take a “line in the sand” stand on that one John.
You are a credit to wind-sock politicians everywhere.
Breaking: Kasich also announced that he “probably would not” sign a bill legalizing slavery.
Gosh, (big, innocent grin) not if you folks were watching…golly.
“Probably”. The classic political dodge. Especially from someone who is a textbook fringe reactionary trying to appear moderate. In many ways this type of stance is more despicable than either of his opponents. At least with them you know what your getting.
“I’m waiting to see how much backlash there will be before I decide if I would have signed it or not”.
I know.
I’m arguing that gender isn’t necessary on a birth certificate. If it’s there, then it seems to me states are perfectly in their right to mandate behavior based on the gender of record, aren’t they? If not, how does the record get changed? Why should a trans individual have to notify the government?
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child lists many reasons why the registration of a birth is a community good, but all the reasons I see relate to age. A footprint can serve as identity.
Just trying to provoke a thought, not wage a jihad. Thanks for making a good point.
