Problem is so many rapists and even jurors think the act of raping a drunk and incapacitated woman is not as bad as raping a sober one because they focus on the victim as if she was at least partly responsible for the rape.
I have no problem if Kasich told his daughters that drinking to excess impairs judgment and renders one more vulnerable to sexual predators. But he did not say this.

My guess would be that violence against women in general has nothing to do with either parties or alcohol.
Itâs as if he responded to a question about âHow can we prevent gunshot deaths?â by saying âYou should avoid gangs.â
Why doesnât he turn it around?
Men who donât want to rape women shouldnât put themselves in a position where there will be a lot of alcohol and be around women whose judgement is impaired when their judgement is impaired.
Thatâs true in general.
But the campus problem (both in high school and college) is influenced by alcohol. Our concept of rape has changed greatly over the last 40 years. While it has complicated things, overall I think the changes are for the good.
