Note to Kasich: Yes. Sadly, theyâre all too real. The GOP courted the crazies, kept giving them loudspeakers, busing them inâall expenses paid for by the Kochs, Beck, Hannity and FOX Entertainment, etc.âyou guys OWN them. Clean up after them.

Oh, youâd better BELIEVE theyâre for real, Gov. These are the folks who would crawl on broken glass to vote against you (RINOâs) and Clinton, as well. You canât do an âend runâ around them unless the GOP ends up in a brokered convention. Keep hoping.

Itâs off topic for sure, but we need to take a moment to remember what happened on this date, November 22, in 1963. For those of us of a certain age itâs seared into our memories and are still shocked and saddened.

This is what happens when you spend literally years brainwashing your base with absurd propaganda that their country and their rights are being stolen from them by âothersâ.
Kasich need look no further than the outrageous things said by elected Republicans daily and amplified by Fox News and right-wing media. Every single day, one way or another, they accuse the President of treason and usually a dozen other Democrats.
Rep Ann Wagnerâs (R-Mo) recent comments accusing the POTUS of standing up for ISIS being a perfect example.
What did they think would be the outcome of this outrageous behavior?

Armed Forces TV, Ramstein Airbase West GermanyâŚ(parents visiting friends elsewhere) I.was watching an episode of the Real McCoys, which had just endedâŚsocialized as I was at that time with generic ServiceBrat American culture, the cornball ending made 15-year-old me feel great.
The next announcement changed all that. The news was that President John F. Kennedy (who had come to West Berlin and given the âIch bin ein Berlinerâ speech recently) and Texas Governor John Connoly were shot in Dallas, Texas.
I was stunned and went to the kitchen for a glass of milk. The TV was still on. When I came back, all I saw was a picture of the President on the screen.
To say that âthings changed after thatâ would be an understatement.
Later, when the person accused of the assassination was arrested and taken to some facility in Dallas, Jack Ruby charged into the area and killed him, in front of millions of astonished TV viewers. I never saw that scene as it happened, and neither did most of my friends. On the other hand, upon returning to the United States years later, every young person I interacted with SAW the Ruby shooting Live.

His assassination and the aftermath including Oswaldâs shooting and the dignified procession of mourners changed us in ways weâd never imagined on that day, and itâs not going too far to say it was a defining moment in our lives which we revisit still trying to make sense of it.

Iâve read Libra, not the other, but thereâs also Stephen Kingâs 11/22/63, in which a time traveler prevents Oswald from pulling the trigger. This awful episode is endlessly fascinating. Just ask Oliver Stone, he threw a bunch of paranoid stuff at the screen and it all stuck.
