Discussion: Kasich Back Tracks: 'My Purpose Is To Be President' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #246446

My purpose is to be President. That’s why I put one foot in front of the other," Kasich said.

“Then I put the other foot in my mouth. It does make walking something of a challenge.”

That’s a resounding endorsement of himself if I’ve ever heard one!

I agree…

“No, Megyn, look. Here’s the thing: My purpose is to be President. That’s why I put one foot in front of the other," Kasich said."

Huh? I wasn’t reared speaking English but I’ve been at it now for 50 years. Is it me or is that quote incoherent?

TPM:

Kasich’s show of modesty became Kelly’s first question on Wednesday night. “If you aren’t sure, why should the voters be?” Kelly asked.

“No, Megyn, look. Here’s the thing: My purpose is to be President. That’s why I put one foot in front of the other," Kasich said.

I’d say this knocks Kasich out of the race, but he’s never really been in it and he never stood a chance of winning.

Kasich is damning himself moving forward. By not dropping out after poor showings in both SC and NV, and with still very little organization nationally, he is only muddying the waters. And if Trump does win the nomination, the GOP elite is going to be looking for a scapegoat…Kasich is volunteering himself to be the first goat on that altar.

In some ways, it sounds as if Kasich is taking JEB’s place as the new low energy, incoherent, seemingly out of place (so called) moderate Rethug in the latest round. I don’t know if he’ll win any states outright but he’ll probably come in second in WI, and IN. Maybe he’ll take OH, maybe not. (Rump is on a tear and I don’t think the whole “tax” dodge is going to stick). Other than that, I don’t see what purpose he serves at this point. There’s no justification for his running.

Our purpose , as people who care about America’s future is to stop Kasich and the other misguided dopes on the RW fringe from getting anywhere NEAR the presidency.

There really needs to be a Kasich Translate like Google Translate. And Johnny has been my state senator, US representative and now my governor. You have to listen to what his is not saying and how he has dropped the “crusade” language.

The full quote:
“I don’t know if my purpose is to be president. My purpose is to be out here, doing what I think I need to be doing,” he said. “We’ll see where it ends up. If it’s not this crusade, then it will be another one. Maybe it will be a really small one somewhere in my kid’s school. Who knows?”

Kasich Back Tracks: ‘My Purpose Is To Be President’

Could’a fooled me. I thought it was to soak the donors for campaign cash for your next Gov run in Ohio.

He is not a moderate. He has always campaigned as a nice Midwestern “Can’t we all get along” Christian, then governs from the far right. His campaign rhetoric never matches what he will do. Ask the unions in Ohio, not one word about trying to destroy them while running for office, he even courted their vote, talked about negotiation, then BOOM! They had to take it to the voters in a referendum and Kasich lost.

It’s just the “chewing gum part” that makes things complicated.

Term limited, and Ohioans say 'thank you Ohio Constitution!"

Oops

Kaisch had it right the first time. He has no purpose…other than staying at the adult table at the next GOP presidential debate. It’s odd that he’s still concerned about that now that there are only a few candidates left and there is plenty of room for any corrupt, incompetent and irresponsible Republican officer holder on that stage.

Kasich is the only adult among the Republican candidates. I would vote for him in a minute if only he didn’t subscribe to the failed trickle down policies of Republicans.
