I got my BA in psychology and worked awhile on a mental ward. The “people” that were living there, to them, were telling the truth.

This an offshoot of what I call " the gracchus statement:

Gracchus: I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they’ll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they’ll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it’s the sand of the coliseum. He’ll bring them death - and they will love him for it.

The delusion of upper middle class white voters is that they are just one step away from being rich. That is all they see. They don’t see how an illness can destroy their life, even though they know many people that are experiencing it. They look up to the one or two people who broke through to being a multimillionaire. They identify with that strongly. Everyone else will be a loser, but they are special, and deserving. At least in their own minds.

The magic Gracchus refers to, in reference to American society is what I call " the free market fairy" . It is really the true God of America, everyone believes in it, all evidence to the contrary. socialism built the middle class. Let me say that again, SOCIALISM BUILT THE MIDDLE CLASS.

So Handel probably cemented her victory by employing this magic, this dog whistle, this chimera. People want to believe what she says, because not doing so is painful. It would make them question their belief system.

So what you think hurt Handel, probably just won her the election.

Now, all she has to do is body slam a reporter and it’s landslide time.

Thanks for signing your political death warrant, Karen.

She seems like a nice person.

So, another Republican pinhead running for a $174,000 a year “Government” job wants to throw the unemployed, the sick, the elderly and the disabled to the wolves. A bunch of wolves that were elected by a flock of sheep.
What else is new?
This is the “standard package” you get when you elect people like this to what are supposed to be “public service” jobs. When people like this are elected to “public service” jobs, the only ones they end up serving are themselves.
Want to change that? Here’s one Idea:
Let’s see how many of these pinheads would disappear from “public service” if and when they were paid $476.12 a day, only on days when THEY WORK.
Enact something like this at noon, and by 1:00 PM there would not be a baker’s dozen of these morons left.
It would mean that people who seek “Public Service” employment would have to do so for considerations other than money.
How would that be for a “Change in Government?”

Trump said, wages are too high.

Always bears repeating.
I consider it to be one of the (very) few Universal Truths…

They do tell the truth occasionally.

Usually by accident.

“At this festive season of the year, Mr. Scrooge Ms. Handel, … it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.”
“Are there no prisons?”
“Plenty of prisons…”
“And the Union workhouses.” demanded Scrooge. “Are they still in operation?”
“Both very busy, sir…”
“Those who are badly off must go there.”
“Many can’t go there; and many would rather die.”
“If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”

C. Dickens, A Christmas Carol (1843)

No, no you got it wrong… this is GA06 you can only be against minimum wage, to many Midwesterners live here, in the GA08 & GA09 districts however, there you need to be pro slavery.

This is a powerful message - if you work full-time, you should be able to survive. It cuts thru bullshit like few other issues Democrats espouse, and its hard to spin - basically, the GOP is trying to say that you deserve whatever your boss says you deserve, because your boss needs to run his business. Its transparent bullshit, and the Dems need to learn to hammer and hammer on these issues - think the GOP cries of “death taxes” - to drive home a greater point: that the GOP is the Party of Despair.

LOL. I had no idea GA06 was so, um, progressive (when compared to GA08 and GA09, that is).

Clearly, Ms. Handel earns a livable wage, most of which feeds her.

Handel debates like Trump tweets.

She doesn’t seem to realize that the majority of Republican voters in GA are poor whites who want nothing more than to make a livable wage and have a chance to become middle class.

Many are are third or fourth generation rural whites who have always worked minimum wage or existed on disability. Others are middle class workers over age 50 who have fallen into the working poor. And then there are middle class kids who graduate and can’t find jobs in their fields ending up working minimum wage, too.

The Bush Great Depression left many middle class and poor Republicans looking for anything other than a traditional Republican like herself. They voted for Trump because he spoke like Bernie about income inequality. She better get with the program. Everyone making minimum wage knows that tax cuts for the rich don’t result in them earning a middle class standard of living.

She sounds just like Mitt Romney not Donald Trump who promises that everyone will be rich if they vote for him. You sound pretty stingy and don’t offer any chance of a big payoff when they roll the dice and vote for you, you fake job creator.

Where’s the money, Handel?

Exactly - even Trump realizes this is a losing issue for the GOP - that’s why he lies so prodigiously about it.
