Discussion for article #227468
Kind of off topic, but I noticed this morning on the news a Democrat is ahead of Kobach in the polls. I think these morons have pissed off the voters in this here lilttle old red state.
I may develop a popcorn allergy from this election season.
Brownback dustbowled the budget with his magic tax cuts. Now Kobach has stirred up the farmerâs morning coffee meetings by using his official power to influence the election in a state full of particularly independent voters who may very well take issue with his ham handed tactics. Pollsters are saying K Râs could go 0 for 3 in an election year when Râs are hoping for a big sweep. R politicians really should stick with their policy of doing nothing.
âhad not meant the legal requirementâ
I believe you meant to use the word âmet.â Which means, of course, that you havenât meant acceptable standards of editing for articles, even those on-line ⌠just teasing ;).
Iâm absolutely not kidding when I say they donât âmeantâ standard editing practices. Hell, they havenât met minimal or any editing standards at all. They donât even use spell check.
There isnât a writer here, Josh included, that would make it past my third grade spelling bees, my high school English teacher, or much less ENG 101 at any one of Sarah Palinâs alma materâs (or would that be almaâs mater? Hmm, stuck by my own petard.)

When will the court hear the petition?
Very good news, and very on topic.
ââŚKobach ruled last week that Taylorâs name would not be removedâŚâ
Nazi.
That violates Taylorâs rights on so many levels.
In Nebraska today the GOP is suing to remove their LG from the ballot - even though the deadline has passed - after he resigned following a restraint order being issued at his sisterâs request.
In Kansas, the GOP SOS - who is on Sen Robertsâ campaign committee - is being sued for refusing to let The Democratic Senate candidate quit the ballot even though he filed the required paperwork on time.
Isnât that ironic. And pathetic
There is a First Amendment and a bigger Constitutional issue at stake here. It is time to take that Kansas election law to the cleaners. It will definitely fail to make muster. However, with rabidly partisan and political RATS in charge of the highest court, one can never be sure.
Wow. All I can say is wow. Are other withdrawal letters subject to freedom of information act requests? Iâd love to see what previous candidates, who were able to get themselves removed, said.
I can just see one saying âRemove me from the ballot.â
Wait. I think I understand Kobachâs point of view⌠He wholeheartedly thinks that Taylor is the best candidate for the job and that the Kansas electorate would be poorly served by either of the remaining candidates. Removing Taylorâs name would therefore do irreparable harm to Kansas. Hence itâs his duty to make sure that Taylorâs name stays on the ballot!
That must be it⌠right? Nothing political. Pure altruism.
(note for the sarcasm impairedâŚthis is sarcasm)
