Discussion: Kansas Gov. Brownback Expands Kris Kobach's Power To Chase Voter Fraud

Discussion for article #237281

Democrats, please hurry up and leave this state. Let the Republicans have it. Lets see what happens when they have a state full of elderly white people and nothing else.

“So he took this issue to the people, and the people of Kansas looked at
it and they want to make sure you don’t have voter fraud.”

Through a Subtext Filter:

“Koback took this issue to the Mostly White voters whom he duped into believing that there’s a ton of voter fraud going on in the state and got them to vote for a law that really is a waste of taxpayer dollars, but don’t worry, even though we have no money for roads, schools, or help for the most needy in the state, we have the money to waste chasing non-existent voter fraud in a hope that we can turn the Mostly White voters of this state to Entirely White voters in this state by disenfranchising as many non-Whites as we can.”

Kansans had their chance to dump Brownback and they didn’t take it. Whatever happens there now is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. A failed state. WI is not far behind but for the sake of all of us, we need Walker to finish his term. Sorry badger-friends.

They’d have Vermont?

Alright, while that’s a bit of a joke…Vermont is mostly older, mostly White, and the largest minority we have here is the LGBT Community. I think we’re something like 95% White…

I guess finding stray needles in the haystack is far more important than rational funding policies for state government.

They’d have Vermont minus knowing how to read and reason.

I think the accompanying picture says it all … only old, white males … so obviously all voter fraud is done by young, female and less-than-lily-white people? I’d put gay in there as well, but after all these are old, white Republican men …

Yes, but now there’s no one on their lawns!
I say, welcome to the new Hogwarts High Inquisitor!

Thank the Lord Jesus that Gov. Brownback has gotten Kansas’ economy in order. Now he can concentrate on the more pressing issue of the rampant voter fraud that has caused one or two Democrats there to be elected.

They won’t be able to read and reason because they keep having to shut schools down early because they’re out of money. Republicans: doing their best to keep their stupid constituency stupid.

Respectfully, as one of my closest friends is a former native son of your fair state, Vermont has few more residents than my own county in CA (one of 59), and we still consider ourselves a largely rural agricultural county… with much higher diversity, thankfully. I do really apprecicate your state sending Sanders and Leahy to the Senate

I’m wondering if Brownback and co will now have armed guards outside the voting stations… nicely pressed starched khaki uniforms, calf-high black leather boots, formal looking patch on the arm… something with a historical appeal for those who want to protect the Fatherland and ensure the integrity of the voting system against Communists, malcontents, and other wrong-thinkers.

This is why sports can be such a shape-shifter. The NCAA (which Americans pay attention to far more than politics)
featured these Kansas public universities (full of minorities).

All while the Baggers are ruining the state of KS.

Pretty much. We are trying to keep a balanced budget even though we don’t have anything telling us we have to.

I’ve been encouraged to run for office because I have oddball ideas like shifting the school year and splitting it in half so that we can cut down on how much we spend on keeping the schools open and heated in the winter and open and cooled in the summer…possibly shifting to a four-day work week for government employees with expanded work hours during the day (something people have tried and found successful). Moving and splitting the legislative session for the same reason as the schools…mandating that any not-for-profit hospital which makes a profit must either hand the profits over to the state’s Medicare and Medicaid funds or cut their prices to the point of no longer making a profit.

I have a lot of ideas. I just don’t deal well with people.

I have a feeling things will not end well for this duo. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel. How more unrealistic can they get? This is a fantasy beyond fantasy. Glad it was not a democrat left with this mess.

I always love pointing this out to people:

Vermont is the second smallest state in terms of population in the country, but thirtieth in terms of population density. We are 80% forest and farm land and 20% development. We have just under 627,000 people.

We’re an odd mix too.

But, yeah, I feel like Brownback wants to order up some Brown Shirts…

And the national Democratic Party will issue nary a peep of irritation over this. Who cares if many thousands of Kansas Democrats are affected by Brownbackistan’s policies? It’s flyover country as far as the DNC is concerned. Besides, the filet is soooo tender in D.C.

Actually, this may end up being a good thing.

Here’s the premise: by having KK chasing after all those non-existent voters who commit fraud, he will then be prevented from working up even more draconian laws his staff would or could pursue. I can imaging his investigative staff lounging in fast food joints or bars most of the day, then reporting in to KK that lead didn’t pan out. Send us more leads on fraudulent voters so we can get paid to do squat chasing all over Kansas. They’d have more luck finding unicorns!
