Discussion: Kansas GOPer Open To Medicaid Expansion After Rural Hospital Closes

Discussion for article #240567

“I’ve never been amenable to just an expansion of the Affordable Care Act,” he told the Lawrence Journal-World on Tuesday. “But as we look at states like Indiana that take a real state-centric approach to addressing the health care needs of their poor, I think that’s something that Kansas needs to strongly consider.”

Translation: I didn’t know my policies had any real consequences so imagine my surprise…

The real consequences however, are not that poor people have less hospitals to go for treatment. The real consequences he is worried about is that there are less donors from the healthcare field to feather his nest.

Only when the repercussions of their intransigence cracks them upside their heads to GOPers sometimes start to come around. Not often, but sometimes.

Is it wrong of me to hope that someone in his family breaks an arm and has to be driven two hours to get a cast?

The residents of Kansas voted for living in MAD MAX and now - well, that’s exactly what they got. :expressionless:

But…they just did what Jesus wanted???

No. No it is not.

Personally I would add a fat embolism to his troubles in that scenario.

You know, you can just make it him that gets hurt, instead of a family member. Maybe someone at the hospital will recognize him and get video of him blubbering about how he had to wait for hours. Waah.

Who would Jesus screw over?

This is what I hate about Republicans…This asshole legislator could care less about the people who will now be inconvenienced and completely SOL by this hospital closure.

What he does care about however, are a bunch of pissed off constituents that have come to realize, if they haven’t already, this guy was against expanding Medicaid in the first place, thereby making that hospital closure possible. The reality is, he only cares about it now because plenty pissed off people in his district may not vote for this asshole in the next election. Sadly for his constituents, he still could care less about people without healthcare in his district. Typical thug pretending he’s concerned with the welfare of his constituents.

“Now that it’s clear white people might be hurt and not just all those dark people in Kansas City, I see that my prior thinking needs to be modified.” Works for heroin, works for Medicaid. I wonder what level of carnage among his constituents will be required for gun control.

Dear Sensible Kansas Republicans,

For your own sake, I hope you organize yourselves to retake control of your party pronto to halt the deliberate destruction of your state. Primary these self-destructive ideological zealots with reasonable moderates. Initiate efforts by reasonable Republicans in your legislature to remove such ideologues from leadership positions. Democratic and independent Kansans will support you in general elections, but you must do the heavy in-house lifting yourself. What the future of Kansas becomes depends upon you now!

“I’ve never been amenable to just poor people having Affordable Care in any way,” he told the Lawrence Journal-World on Tuesday. “But as we look at states like Indiana that take their heads out of of their ass-centric approach to addressing the health care needs of their poor, I think that’s something that Kansas needs to strongly consider.”

FIFY!

What a bunch of morons! The ACA informed EVERYONE all along the way the things it could do for EVERYONE to have access to quality care, but they felt the need to just hate Obama because that seemed like the smarter thing to do.
