Discussion: Kansas Dem Plans To Challenge Kobach Decision To Keep Him On Ballot

Discussion for article #227272

This calls for some connoisseur popcorn, kosher salt and some of that imported Irish butter!

It was not immediately clear whether Taylor would file his challenge with a court or the Kansas Objections Board, which covers election issues. But Kobach said earlier Thursday that the board, which is under his authority, would not handle any appeal.

Any chance of getting the feds involved?

This is wild. All over the country, guys are trying to get ON the ballot, and can’t. While In Kansas, one guy is trying to get OFF the ballot…and can’t.

I’ve heard of many candidates dropping out of races; this has never before been an issue. But of course, this clever move by the Democrats has absolutely thrown the GOP into a PANIC.

Hahaha. Hay will be made and it won’t be by the GOP!

This is just a detraction for something and President Obama is to blame.

This is beginning to sound like the plot of a very bad sitcom.

"And I want every single one of you to go out there and not vote for me! Get your friends and neighbors to not vote me too!

“I’m not looking to lose by a little. I won’t be satisfied until not one single Kansan supports me.”

Then, of course, in the twist ending, he ends up being elected because he’s the only honest candidate.

Who paid the $73,000. bribe to Sorenson to switch his vote from Bachmann to Ron Paul in Iowa.

Sorenson plead guilty to the charge of accepting the bribe last week.

Jesse Benton who worked for Rands campaign at the time resigned from McConnell’s campaign last week because of the news.

So we know who took the bribe of $73,000.
But who paid the bribe ?

Was it Rand Paul, or Ron Paul, or Jesse Benton ?

Jesse Benton is married to Ron Paul’s grand daughter, and Rand Paul is his Uncle.

So ------- who paid the bribe to Sorenson ?

Go, Go, GO!

I’m thinking not. As much as I despise Kobach, he’s probably being a textualist about this (and, I assume, his cohort that told Taylor he could do this has been duly chastised). All that said, what Circuit Court handles things for Kansas, and how many Bush appointees does Taylor’s lawyers have to deal with?

And Kobach rules that he withdrew from the race and cannot be certified as the winner.

No, I don’t see this as a federal issue; this has to do with the interpretation of state law, and the feds normally leave that for state courts. (Bush v Gore being a notable exception, but that at least did have the fig leaf of equal protection to give it an appearance of legitimacy.)

What’s the matter with Kansas?!?!?

What happens if Chad Taylor submits a revised letter with new language?
