Discussion: Kamala Harris Calls On Kirstjen Nielsen To Resign Over Family Separation Stance

I’ll like to do a bit of mauling right now…

I don’t understand Nielsen. She is ruining her career over this - it’s already turning out to be Trump’s Katrina. She’ll forever be known for this.

So the fact that NM got to 100% in 2004 (?) is not valid? Huh?

I know more about NM demos than many. I’ve lived here since 1985 and have social science training.

It’s not as impossible as you claim that NM will be 100% in November. It could happen again.

Doesn’t it require congressional approval?

She’s been looking for a reason to quit. Hasn’t this come up with her at least twice before?

She has fit in so well with this administration. She lies with the best of them. I’m sure she’ll be given another assignment as a reward for standing up to the big, bad, fake media who’s hiring crisis actors in those camps to make 45 look bad.

Lord, they can’t even keep their stories straight anymore. We teach our kids it’s easier to tell the truth because you don’t have to remember the lie to protect yourself later. This is a moral lesson in truth-telling (not to be confused with truthiness).

If this outstanding public servant were elected President of the United States in 2020, she would clean up Trump’s effing mess in one year, and unlike past administrations, she would NOT let the Trump criminal administration off the hook after they leave the White House.

The country needs both a great politician and a no-nonsense prosecutor makes us whole in 2021.

For all these claims of how badly this is playing out, I’ll believe it when I see the Dems campaign on it for the midterms and actually win.

Many of us Americans are a lot of wind and little action. Not all, but many.

And some wouldn’t be convinced even if it were their own children being taken.

Because the US is a signatory to this treaty, it is, according to the Constitution, "The Supreme Law of the Land."

Good work. Thanks.

Hasn’t 45 already said he has no time for any UN regulations or treaties or the rest because the UN doesn’t run this country?

I know somebody said it in his admin.

In any case, he won’t care about this. The UN is as toothless on these issues as the GOP is toothless on the goings-on here in the US.

Umm, the GOP is not toothless about the crimes it is committing here. Their fangs are cutting deeply into our democracy.

But I know what you meant, I suppose.

Not the point and doesn’t matter.

The US Constitution says that any treaty ratified and signed by the US becomes the Supreme Law of the Land.

So what Trump is doing is unconstitutional as well as immoral, cruel, heartless, insane, and bigoted.

My point is, the GOP is doing nothing about our issues, preferring to appease and mollify the mad man and preserve their spots in Congress.

The UN has done just about as well, addressing the issues under their concern.

I think you understood, but I don’t mind clarifying.

Time for California to become a nation and leave the USA. CA is the 5th largest economy on planet earth, a stand alone nation already! In fact, when revolutionary war takes out and burns down Washington, DC, many sections of the country will then become nations as the USA dissolves into its already existing divisions, done by 2026 at latest.

You nailed it again.

And see https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/20/us/immigrant-children-separation-ice.html for an a earlier report on source for these numbers and alleged DHS ‘misreporting.’

Couldn’t agree more, but with 45, you know that unless he bought and paid for it, it doesn’t matter. At what point has he ever conceded an action in favor of the Constitution during his administration? I don’t see this as any different.

I hold the GOP just as culpable as I do the Orange Monster.

Glad you clarified.

Actually, they are much worse because they all - to a person - know better.

I wonder if it’s a good idea to start using the word, ‘enabling’, when talking about the GOP with respect to the President?

The Enabling GOP.

Has a nice ring to it, no?
