Discussion: Kamala Harris Calls On Kirstjen Nielsen To Resign Over Family Separation Stance

It’s almost as if that’s part of the terror intended, isn’t it?

And without even staff who speak a language some of the kids understand.

Hawaii too, the proportionally largest minority state.

I was replying to your point that CA would react negatively to the kidnapping of children. Check out that post of yours and my reply.

To repeat, I think the proportion of minorities is more important than the number (your claim) in generating outrage about this state-sponsored child abuse.

Almost as if?

If they could get away with starving the kids, they would do it. We’re that far down the rabbit hole.

ncsteve said it best earlier today.

I live in California and my post said that it is playing negatively in California for several reasons.

I did not say that Californians are more outraged than the denizens of any other state. Nor did I claim that the absolute number of minorities was more important the the proportion of minorities.

This isn’t really a competition, anyhow – I’m talking about my state. Feel free to talk about yours.

I have a different understanding. Again, I think proportion of minorities is of greater social and political impact. There many GOP Reps in CA, but not in Hawaii or NM (1 of 3 are GOP, but the GOPer is running again for Gov and we hope he loses again. Last time he was replaced by a Dem so NM had an all-Dem Fed delegation! The Dem nominee for that seat looks good to me.)

And we agree that CA voters should be outraged. But many are not, I add.

Sorry if you feel offended in any way.

Let’s move on.

Judging by her name, it would be the quisling Fru Nielsen.

Man Kirstjen Nielsen really has sold (whatever’s left of) her soul to Donny, hasn’t she.

Isn’t this the person who has twice threatened to resign, over fights with him?

And THEN she comes out with this garbage in defense of the indefensible?

WTF?

Kirstjen’s Department, which wasn’t seperating children from parents - but then it was and won’t applogize for doing so, have been handing out these flyers to parents when they arrive.

a) Can’t deny when you have handed these out.
b) Callous disregard went into planning how to reunify/find the children once itn.
c) How many parents won’t be able to navigate this - and what will happen to those kids who don’t get ‘claimed’?

Wait don’t answer that third question - as I am afraid of the answer.

Monsters.

One can hope there’s big outrage over this in NV and AZ (cough, Senate races, cough).

35% of the “base” is against it, in IPSOS poll.

No worries. But I would point out that by your own reasoning, while there are many GOP reps in CA, the proportion of GOP reps in CA is 26% while you acknowledge the proportion in NM is 33%.

In any case, I am certain that in 2019 that 26% number will be lower. There are some great pickup opportunities even if we don’t capture the white whale: CA-22, Devin Nunes’ seat!

Fair points. The GOP district is more like west Texas here, oil country. Here’s hoping for great statistical improvement in November. And I won’t quibble if NM gets to 100% and CA does not. Promise.

NM won’t get to a 100%. The southern part of the state is whiter than the north and votes more Repug than the north does.
