Discussion for article #236980
I hate Abercrombie and pretty much everyone who wears their clothing, but I think they have a very good argument. A headscarf surely does not fit with the image of an obnoxious privileged preppy. If they want to make wearing Abercrombie clothing and only Abercrombie clothing a requirement for working there, I don’t see why they should be forced to make an exception for religious reasons.
Abercrombie however insists it is still too dangerous for Muslim employees to possess unopened cans of soda.
Justice Clarence Thomas [was the only Justice who] dissented.
Of course he was.
So Antonin Scalia and John Roberts are imposing Sharia Law??? Somebody call Pamela Geller STAT!
If she just would’ve followed the high jab with a left hook and quick kick to the corporate nuts, she’d have been fine,
@dumbsnark
@leftflank: Abecrombie & Flinch?
C’mon, this is America—Muslims have the same right to be obnoxious, privileged preppies as everybody else does.
The court will back her up unless she wants equal pay or a medical plan that treats women as adults.
Can’t be too good of an argument if only Thomas agrees with them ![]()
I love this. The so called “religious right” is freaking out already and blaming this on the “left wing” Supreme Court.
Good for her, but who the hell would actually want to work for Abercrombie & Fitch? That amount of douche over an extended period of time could turn even those with the strongest of will into a complete asshole.
I find it odd that an American Muslim woman conservative enough to wear a full headscarf would want to work at a store like Abercrombie to begin with.
“Preppy”? What was the last decade you were in Abercrombie? They dropped any hint of preppiness in their clothing at least twenty years ago.
Abercrombie & Fitch could have won this case if they just said they had a sincerely held religious belief against headscarves. Silly them.
Wait… Scalia wrote for the majority, and Clarence Thomas dissented?
Time to settle up your affairs, everyone. The end of the world is nigh.
