So much for that years long shitshow.
Justice Department Drops Case Against Sen. Menendez
Not a surprise.
Can’t very well have a precedent you know in case one of our troop gets caught with similar deportment issues!
I am not surprised. After the Bob McDonnell case unless there is a contract outlining the quid pro quo signed by both parties bribery of a public official is hard as hell to prove. Thanks Supreme Court. It is always game on for a political crook in America.
probable outcome - Democrats hold serve in NJ
- Justice could have tried to churn things up - but there were strong odds that it would have not have yielded anything positive for the GOP - and could have turned around and bit them.
So the War with Iran Caucus hangs on to one crucial vote…
“From the very beginning, I never wavered in my innocence and my belief that justice would prevail.”
One would hope that one’s innocence wouldn’t waver in an incident that occurred in the past. I guess he meant he never wavered in belief of his own innocence.
As @ronbyers pointed out, hard to prove. Cases like this show that the US justice system could use a “not proven” verdict in addition to the guilty/not guilty verdicts.
So Menendez gets to keep his seat, but Al Franken has to resign. There seems to be something out of whack with the administration of justice in the United States.
The fact of New Jersey being represented in the US Senate by a sleazebag like Menendez and a saint like Booker illustrates just how complex politics are.
Well, one thing the Republicans can count on, Menendez will be there for them when they go after Cuba for just about any reason, justified or not. Otherwise, one good turn deserves another seeing how the Republicans have been let off for far worse. Glad this is over.
FYI: For some reason popinjay is trending at Merriam-Webster.com. Can’t imagine why.
Trump: I am so mad at this. Why wont Obama’s DOJ prosecute a Rapist Democrat?
Frankly, having that particular charge dropped by this particular DOJ, should be considered a strike against him. Rump certainly wouldn’t consider it a crime.
We’ve got that covered in Wisconsin too. While I would hesitate to call Tammy Baldwin a saint, she is certainly miles away in every direction from the vacuous Ron Johnson, who would have to strain mightily to attain the relative status of sleazebaggery.
Even a contract won’t do the job with the conservative majority. If the prosecution had unearthed a contract, the majority would rule it an illegal agreement, making it unenforceable and, therefore, not a contract.
He is a remarkably stupid man for sure.

That’s a beautiful Catch-22! “What they were trying to do was illegal, therefore it wasn’t illegal.”
