Discussion: Jury Could Begin Hearing Evidence In Michael Brown Trial Wednesday

Discussion for article #226580

St. Louis grand jury. Evidence from the outstanding professionals of the Ferguson P.D. Angry, tense town. What could go wrong?

Ferguson is requesting some surplus MIRVs, just in case.

I just noticed that the 4 gunshot wounds were on the insideof Brown’s right arm. It would be difficult to shot someone on the inside of their arm unless they were expressing the Lotus position. More likely, Brown’s hands were in the air, consistent with the surrender position, which clearly exposes the inside arm. Comments?

A Grand Jury will decide Wednesday whether to indict while the FBI is still finding witnesses who haven’t been interviewed? Has St. Louis County even interviewed the witnesses telling their stories on television?

The Grand Jury will begin hearing evidence Wednesday. In cases like this, the Grand Jury will sit for quite a while.

I guess it is possible for him to be charging the officer, who would have to be prone, while holding his hands above his head in mock-bear style.

More likely, he had has hands up, and the officer, seeing black, misinterpreted the gesture as an attack stance.

Maybe the evidence all points to the same thing, and they want to get the indictment done quickly to calm the public down? Maybe it is crystal clear to all that this was an execution by a cop with more adrenaline than common sense? Maybe the Mayor of Ferguson will resign, along with the police chief? Maybe I won the lottery with a ticket that fell out of the UPS guys pocket into my latest delivery of Amazon Prime Diapers?

Okay, so the GJ of st louis is a deciding factor right in the middle of a fed investigation. Just for giggles, how is it going to work out when the gj says it was legal self defense from a charging known criminal and the feds say it was a murder by an over enthused wanna be get me some street cop? Wait and see all the protesters at the court house and the sides will be as distinct as black and white. Wonder which side the military peace keeping force will have there eyes on?

Why shoot at his arms in the first place? Police officers are trained to shoot at the center body mass if a situation calls for shooting in self-defense. Did the officer miss his target badly? Did he realize once he started shooting (and apparently missing) that this wasn’t a self-defense use of his weapon requiring center-mass shots?

The two head shots are a different matter entirely.

More to the point, will Darren Wilson be appearing at this hearing? What’s more, has anybody heard anything about an Internal Affairs investigation on the incident – which is what usually happens when a police officer fires his/her weapon? If the chief wanted to try and calm this down early, he would have at least offered it (if not publicly, then to Gov. Nixon) as “proof” that they’re trying to figure out what happened? Instead, stonewalling – and see where that’s gotten us.

Holder should enjoin the GJ from sitting. Their starting up in the middle of the investigation is only going to make things worse, not better.

If his arms were up they were probably going for a head shot. Two of the six were.

The operative word in the article – “could”. Doesn’t mean they will, just that they can if they so choose. It would be nice if they’d release some of that highly prized evidence they keep under wraps and for no good reason in the meanwhile. I have little faith in the prosecutor too and I know even less about him then the community. Having to wait this long for public release of information is dereliction of duty imo.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the U. S. Attorney for the area is presenting evidence to a Federal Grand Jury at the same time.

I want to ask you a question: there is a video tape that in the background has an audio conversation where at the time of the shooting two people are talking about what happened. They stated that Brown was in the police car and got out and the policeman got out, Brown was going away, but told the policeman that “you can’t shoot me” and started to go back toward the policeman. As he was going to attack the police with his head down rushing him, he was shot in the top of his head. That is the audio states when two people one who witnessed telling his companion what happened.
Also, think about the tape in the store, he was walking out of the store, (getting out of the car) turned around to confront the store owner, (came back to confront the policeman). Also the policeman is wounded in the head, the audio states that Brown slammed the car door on the policeman when the policeman was trying to get out the door.
Could that be the reason they are not releasing the information as they know that it was a justified shooting? What do you think will happen if Wilson is not indicted or arrested?
P.S. Today’s autopsy proved that Brown’s lead witness, Johnson, lied as he was not shot running away.

I’ve listened to that tape, and I didn’t hear anything about the unseen people saying “you can’t shoot me”. It’s barely audible in any case, with lots of cross talk - and resulting interpretation.

Also, the preliminary autopsy did not confirm Mr. Brown’s friend was lying. It only confirmed his perception was wrong when he said Mr. Brown was shot while running away; there’s no way of telling whether he was shot at while running away.

We know very little about what happened out there that tragic afternoon, aside from the fact that one man is dead, and another man shot him. With luck, we may get some answers.

And the girlfriend of Darren Wilson has already given HIS side of the story .
