Discussion: Judge Who Axed Obama Immigration Actions Is No Stranger To Controversy

Discussion for article #231265

Sahil/whoever wrote the headline-The judge did not "axe’ Obama’s Executive Order. Accuracy matters, and he did not. His order in this case does not touch the EO.

Of course, another bush-shit appointee!

Sahil is about the most pathetic writer TPM has ever hired - next to Brian Beutler. More click bait. It is really insulting

Ask Josh

Keep in mind being a judge in Pennsylvania is not a respected position lately, recently two PA Judges were convicted of getting paid by the private prisons to lock up kids. One girl being sent away for making ‘sexually provocative’ MySpace comments . . . . . .

After how many transgressions does a clearly unqualified judge and an affront to the legal profession and jurisprudence get disbarred, removed or impeached, whatever is required to make sure that he does not continue make a mockery of the legal system?

@chammy When you talk out of your ass, people may actually be listening. This is an unfair, ignorant and frankly stupid thing to say. Sahil is an extremely careful and thoughtful journalist as well as an extremely dedicated one. He is “pathetic” in your eyes because you don’t like a verb in the headline of the article and therefore the article is “click bait”. An empty phrase which you’re tossing around for lack of having an argument. What is insulting is empty rants. Please do better.

Judge who rules against ACA is arguably incompetent. Mentally unhinged over that black man in the White House and itching to do something really stupid? Take a number. “Now serving number: 231,456.”

The grift is never far from these guys.

With all due respect, Josh, “axed” is hyperbolic and silly, and disrespectful to your readers, imho.

You really have to wonder how many of these incompetent judges there are around the country besides him. Having so many people in and out of a courtroom like his, with the idea that a judge can get away with making these horrid decisions everyday, with the power to impact people’s lives in substantially negative ways, is just scary.

Who cares if judges are appointed or elected. Either way, there really needs to be a better way to get rid of these judicial turds. They whittle away the whole system of decent American jurisprudence. A judge by their very definition is supposed to be impartial and unbiased. Someone should find a way to remove this guy. He’s clearly got problems of bias while carrying out his authority on the bench.

The last in the list is the most substantive in this particular case. Being a total jerk doesn’t necessarily mean that he is wrong, but making a decision with no discussion on the subject does indeed mean that he is wrong.

I know Art Schwab. I used to go to the same church as he did. He’s a nice fellow when you’re talking to him one on one but he’s a hard core right winger when it comes to his politics.

What Sahil wrote in the article is true. Please see my post below. I know Art Schwab.

"Schwab did so on his own without holding a hearing on the president’s actions, "

which is why this gets the ax as soon as it’s appealed. this guy must really be looking to get kicked off the bench.

Since the article is brief, and does not specifically state what consequences the order carries, I think “axed” is a bit useless as a descriptor.
The article itself delves rather into the man and his history. which, in a legal sense, does not mean beans.\You can critique the man and his work record if you like, but now that that is :“done,” how about a piece of equal length on the legal ramifications, if any. of this judge’s action? That much is left unclear by the article as presented.

I don’t think this will even get appealed. It appears to have little to nothing to do with the case. If it is not essential to either party and does not ultimately change the outcome in the case, it might just be ignored.

They don’t really face any consequences. Frankly there are many judges that are as bad or worse than this guy and nothing happens to them. They can drag cases out for years if either of the, parties is stuck appealing the ridiculous garbage they churn out.
